Coming from Propriano or Figari Porto-Vecchio, take the T40 towards Bonifacio. The path veers right into the scrubland about 900 m after the Bocca di a Testa D859 T40 crossroads. About 2 km from the T40 is car park no. 1, where you can park.
PLEASE NOTE: the road is badly damaged in places and completely inaccessible to low-clearance vehicles. It is much better to have an off-road vehicle such as a 4x4 or SUV. However, it is possible and strongly recommended to leave your vehicle along the T40 or the road, in a location that does not obstruct other users. The start of the trail itself is 1 km from the T40, so you will need to add this distance to the total length of the circular route.
(S/E) Take the road you used to arrive and retrace your steps for about 1 km until you reach a fork in the path on the left, marked by two large stones and wooden posts.
(1) Take this path on the left and follow it as it winds its way up to a plateau where you will find the hamlet of a Testa. Take the time to admire the view of the Gulf of Ventilegne and the various buildings of this ruined hamlet, including the large mansion that dominates it.
(2) Continue to the left and pass in front of an old bourgeois residence whose low openings have been bricked up. Continue along the path that winds through the scrubland dotted with cork oaks. In spring, some passages may be a little damp.
As you get closer to the sea, you will begin to enjoy beautiful views of Figari Bay, the Tower of Caldarello and the small port of Pianotolli-Caldarello. You will reach a small three-way crossroads.
(3) Turn left at a right angle, leaving the path from Saline de Sottane on your right. A few dozen metres further on, you will pass Bruno's Fountain with its small stone bench opposite. Continue through scrubland that is sometimes damp or flooded. Some sections are paved with stones to keep your feet dry in case of flooding.
The path approaches the coastline and Figari Bay.
(4) Follow the path along the coast. Strangely shaped rocks accompany the hike, as well as a succession of beaches and rocky crevices. Continue along the bay to reach a rocky point that juts out further into the sea than the others: Punta di Ventilegne.
(5) Then walk past the three other car parks (in addition to the one at the start), which are invisible from the coast but marked by numerous access paths. Shortly after a small beach with waters that are a little more turquoise than the others, turn left and head back to the car park where your vehicle is parked (S/E).
NB: if your vehicle is parked near the T40, take the main path and return to the road. The distance from car park 1 to the road is 2 km.
