This walk takes you through the countryside on the eastern side of Cluis along small roads and pretty paths. You’ll discover part of the village’s historical heritage (17th-century market halls, the 12th-century Saint-Paxent Church and the ruins of Cluis-Dessous Castle dating from the 12th and 13th centuries) and catch a glimpse of the Bégeaudes quarry, where amphibolite and leptynite are mined.

Lys-Saint-Georges route
Mainly following paths marked by the FFR, this route starts from the medieval castle of Lys-Saint-Georges (Indre) and allows you to discover its surroundings and various viewpoints.
Between the Gourdon and the Bouzanne
According to legend, Lys-Saint-Georges owes its name to Philip Augustus and Richard the Lionheart, who are said to have reconciled in this village. Combining the Lily of France and Saint George, the patron saint of England, we get Lys-Saint-Georges. Its 14th-century castle, the remains of an ancient fortified castle with eleven towers, was restored and then altered in the 19th century. This castle belonged to Bertrand du Lys and was purchased in 1430 by Jacques Cœur. It has belonged to the Count of Reviers for over a century.

This walk in the southern Boischaut region allows you to explore the beautiful countryside around Sarzay and its magnificent 14th-century medieval castle, as well as the Sainte-Madeleine Fountain at Le Pondron and a lovely spot on the banks of the Vauvre in Vignonnet. The route is now called “In the footsteps of the Lord of Barbançois”, who founded the castle.
Following the Vauvre river towards Aigurande
This walk initially winds its way through the Aigurand countryside along magnificent paths through woodland or flanked by hedgerows. Footbridges cross the meandering Vauvre. The return journey then follows the old railway line, which has been converted into a greenway.

On the Menoux hills
This walk allows you to discover the charms of the village of Le Menoux and its surroundings, a place dear to the Bolivian artist Jorge Carrasco, who, amongst other things, created a magnificent decoration in the Church of Notre-Dame and spent his final days there. The hillsides you’ll walk through were once covered in vineyards and overlook the Creuse valley.

Alongside the lovely panoramic views typical of the Val de Creuse region, this area also boasts the fascinating history of the Menoux vineyard. Once renowned for its “vin gris”, the vineyard appears to be enjoying a revival thanks to the efforts of a few enthusiasts.
Circular around the Éguzon dam via the Cassecou footbridge
This walk starts at the Éguzon dam power station and ends at Jarrige and its wash house. You will then discover Châteaubrun and the Fontaine des Seigneurs. Exceptional views await you at the Cassecou viewpoint, followed by the footbridge built for the 2024 Summer Olympics. You will walk along the banks of the Creuse before arriving at the foot of the imposing dam and ending at a viewpoint where you can admire it.

This route allows you to explore the area around Mers-sur-Indre, between the Indre and the Vauvre. It winds its way along paths and small roads through a network of hedgerows and varied meadows, landscapes characteristic of the southern Boischaut bocage. It ends amongst a number of private ponds.

This beautiful hike allows you to discover Lake Éguzon, the steep slopes of the Creuse Valley covered with moors where heather, gorse and broom bloom, and the steep cliffs of the Fileuse rock with breathtaking views of the confluence of the Creuse and Sédelle rivers and the Crozant fortress.The descent to Crozant follows the Sentier des Arts, a trail dotted with works carved into the local rock by five sculptors. Return via St-Jallet and the surrounding countryside.
The Moulin d'Angibault from Montipouret
This walk, on the edge of the Boischaut Sud, allows you to explore the area around Montipouret via pleasant country paths and small country lanes, amidst the bocage landscapes that George Sand called the ‘Vallée Noire’. In her social novel, *Le meunier d’Angibault*, she describes the beautiful Moulin d’Angibault. You’ll be able to admire it halfway along the route, along with its idyllic grounds bordered by the River Vauvre.
