Saint-Révérien route
Start the hike with a visit to the Romanesque church of Saint-Révérien, a Cluniac site, then continue to the Gallo-Roman site of Compierre, where the remains of the city are still visible and explained.
After passing by ponds with the Montenoison hill in your sights, the path will take you to the village of Compierre, at the top of a hill dominated by a castle with a magnificent view at its foot.
A stroll to discover Nevers
An urban walk to discover the “pointy town”, which owes this nickname to the many bell towers in its historic centre. The route takes you past the must-see monuments of the capital of the Nivernais region, the Ducal Palace, the cathedral, the shopping streets and the Porte du Croux, as well as numerous streets lined with old houses, parks and the Port de Jonction.
The Rigole d'Yonne and 16 locks on the Canal du Nivernais
Set off to discover two magnificent engineering structures located in Nièvre in Burgundy: the Échelle de Sardy-les-Epiry on the Canal du Nivernais and the Rigole d'Yonne.
This walk follows the Canal du Nivernais along a greenway. You can admire a series of locks, 16 in total over a little more than 3 km. Your walk continues overlooking the canal, along the edge of the Rigole d'Yonne, which supplies the canal with water from Lake Pannecière.

Bec d'Allier circulars

Canal Bridge and Allier Cape
A short, easy loop to discover the Guétin Canal Bridge over the Allier and the Bec d'Allier (confluence of the Loire and Allier rivers), starting from the village of Gimouille.
Circular loop from the Allier ferry to Le Guétin
Known locally as the Grande Boucle du Passeur, this circular walk is actually quite short and easy. It takes you along the Guétin Canal Bridge (the Canal Latéral à la Loire over the Allier) before reaching the Bec d’Allier (where the Allier meets the Loire) via the river’s right bank, on a path dotted with information boards and a few footbridges and viewing points. The return journey takes you through the woodland and then across fields, passing through the village of Gimouille on the canal.
Towards the bats of Cessy
Nestled at the bottom of the Talvanne valley, Cessy-les-Bois is classified as a Natura 2000 site due to the presence of two large bat colonies on its territory: the Greater Horseshoe Bat and the Geoffroy's Bat.
Along the first two kilometres of the hike, you will find information panels explaining this local feature. In addition, a booklet is available for purchase at the Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire reception point of the Bourgogne Cœur de Loire Tourist Office.
Route d'Anthien
A hike on the edge of the Morvan Natural Park that will take you to Mont Sabot, at the top of which you will find a Romanesque chapel. Throughout the route, you will have views of the Yonne valleys and the Morvan mountains: Bion, Sabot and Bué.
