Park in the car park at Port de Chaumot on the Nivernais Canal.
(S/E) Cross the D977bis, go over the Pont du Tacot bridge, and head up towards the church at Chitry-les-Mines (Jules Renard monument). Turn left onto the Route de Marigny-sur-Yonne and take the first right. Ignore the two streets on the right and you will arrive in front of the childhood home of ‘Poil de Carotte’.
(1) Continue straight on along the stony track leading to Corbigny. Join the D977bis in the Beugnon district.
(2) Head down towards the town, turn left onto Rue Jules Renard and reach the junction with Chemin de l’Émeraude.
(3) Turn left just before the level crossing. Continue straight on until you reach the Monument de l’Émeraude. A historic air disaster took place here in 1934.
(4) Turn around and head back to the junction in the Beugnon district.
(2) Continue along the D977bis towards Nevers. Head for the Chemin de Marcy junction.
(5) Just after the car repair garage, turn left towards the Propharma factory. Follow the road and then the tarmac path to a wooden footbridge: note the beautiful barn and dovecote on the right before the footbridge.
(6) Cross the Yonne on the footbridge (on the left, the old Moulin de Marcy) and reach the Canal du Nivernais at the Écluse de Marcy (view of the Château de Chitry in the distance on the right).
(7) Turn right and follow the canal along the towpath (cycle route). Return to Chaumot Harbour and the car park (S/E).
