Description of the walk

Departure from the car park at the church in Saint-Martin-d'Heuille. If there are no spaces available, you can park in the nearby cemetery car park (22).

(S/E) Follow the D148 towards the north-east (leaving the town hall on your left). Shortly afterwards, take the first right, Rue de la Chaume. Cross Petite Rue, then cross a street on your left and then a street on your right. At the end of the street, after the last house, cross a stony forest track on the left and you will immediately reach another intersection.

(1) Turn left onto a path, cross a small clearing (cross) and enter the forest. Continue straight ahead, heading northeast, alternating between forest paths and forest edges.

(2) At a three-way fork, follow the path that continues straight ahead (northeast).

(3) At the next junction, turn left. At the T-junction, immediately turn right at another junction.

(4) Turn right and follow a path through the deciduous and pine woods. Start off heading northeast, then turn further east-southeast, ignoring all the side paths.

(5) At the end of this long path, turn left and you will soon reach a spring and a wash house. Retrace your steps.

(5) Continue straight ahead. Shortly afterwards, you will come to a wide, shaded path. Follow it to the right between fields.

(6) You will come to a small road and follow it to the right. Pass the hamlet of Apiry and continue on a path that enters the forest.

(7) Pass a hunters' hut on your right and turn left onto the wide path. Continue straight ahead (south-east) for about 1.8 km.

(8) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on the narrowing path.

(9) At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead, heading south-west on a path and winding through the forest. You will arrive at a small clearing that opens onto a field (beautiful view of the hamlet of Baugy). Follow the track on the right, then on the left until you reach a T-junction.

(10) Turn left and walk along a pasture on your right. Take the first path on the left, at the corner of a wood.

(11) At the T-junction that appears shortly afterwards, turn right between two fields. Soon turn left onto this path and enter the forest. Immediately turn right and stay on the main path, heading west-northwest. After about 1 km, cross a ditch (take great care if you are on a bike).

(12) Just after the ditch, the path turns right. After about 100 metres, it turns left. Then go straight ahead, west-southwest.

(13) You will arrive at a gravel forest path; follow it to the left. Continue straight ahead (south-west) for about 1 km.

(14) Leave the forest road and take a path that branches off to the right (south-southwest). Keep on this path, continuing in the same direction.

(15) At a metal barrier on the left, take a path on the right, opposite the barrier. Go straight ahead (north) and descend slightly.

(16) At the end of the path, turn left. At the next crossroads (elevation 198), turn right, then bear left onto the main path. Climb up to a T-junction.

(17) Then turn left. At the next junction (elevation 215), turn left again. Stay on the main road, heading west, and ignore all the side roads. Enter the village of Guidon via Rue des Ratilly.

(18) You will come out onto the D148. Turn left and then right to take Rue des Fontaines. Go down this street and cross Rue des Crapauds.

(19) At the end, follow Rue des Bordes on the left. Cross a street on the left and take a bridge over a river. Shortly after, the tarmac gives way to a path, which soon turns north.

(20) At the T-junction, turn right. At the next junction, turn right and go downhill. Cross a bridge (wash house) and you will come to a junction at a place called Le Crot Mornay.

(21) Then turn left. At the next intersection, keep left. This will take you to the corner of the cemetery.

(22) Turn right and drive past the church on your left. At the corner, turn left and you will immediately return to the car park where you started (S/E).
