A short route starting from the Étang de Baye, allowing you to explore the tunnels of the Canal du Nivernais and the Étang Gouffier.

From the Activital leisure centre, set off on a 20 km circular route that will reveal the hidden treasures to the east of the Étang de Baye. This route takes you to the impressive arches of La Collancelle, runs alongside the 16 locks, and takes you cycling along the peaceful Canal du Nivernais. Easy and suitable for everyone, this route stands out for the diversity of its landscapes: farm tracks, forest paths and cycle paths – there’s something for everyone. With a moderate elevation gain of 140 metres, a bit of fitness is helpful, but nothing insurmountable for those who enjoy a brisk ride. It’s the ideal outing to combine the joy of cycling, exploring the heritage of the Nièvre region, and a breath of fresh air in the heart of the countryside!

Set off to discover two magnificent engineering structures located in Nièvre in Burgundy: the Échelle de Sardy-les-Epiry on the Canal du Nivernais and the Rigole d'Yonne. This walk follows the Canal du Nivernais along a greenway. You can admire a series of locks, 16 in total over a little more than 3 km. Your walk continues overlooking the canal, along the edge of the Rigole d'Yonne, which supplies the canal with water from Lake Pannecière.

A hike designed to showcase the small heritage of this commune in the Nièvre, located on either side of the Canal du Nivernais: castles, beautiful farms and barns, wash houses and fountains, a beautiful variety of paths and panoramic views.

As you float along, set off to explore the idyllic Canal du Nivernais and the Rigole d’Yonne. From Port-Brûlé, the route invites you to admire a remarkable series of 16 locks, enabling boats to gradually negotiate the difference in level and continue their journey along the canal. It is a journey through the canal’s heritage, nature and peaceful landscapes.

A walk that first follows the Yonne river for several kilometres, then follows the descent of the 16 Collancelle locks.

Starting from Guipy Town Hall, explore the rural countryside, which blends tranquil landscapes with picturesque hamlets around the village. Along the route, don’t miss the sculpture ‘Le flotteur’, the statue of Saint Germain-l’Auxerrois and the tympanum of Saint-Germain Church.

A lovely way to discover Châtillon-en-Bazois, its small marina and its locks, as well as the Nivernais Canal, the surrounding villages and the countryside. A walk suitable for everyone, alternating between natural scenery and built-up areas, offering a fine overview of the area.

Start the walk with a visit to the Romanesque church of Saint-Révérien, a Cluniac site, then continue on to the Gallo-Roman site of Compierre, where the remains of the town are still visible and explained.After passing close to some ponds, with the hill of Montenoison in your sights, the path will lead you to the village of Compierre, perched atop a hill dominated by a castle, with a magnificent viewpoint at its foot.

Follow in the footsteps of our Gallo-Roman ancestors, discover a lovely Cluniac site and stroll through the charming villages of the Beuvron. This route will take you to the Church of Saint-Révérien, a Cluniac site, the Gallo-Roman settlement of Compierre and a number of charming villages.

Starting from Lantilly Castle, set off to explore the wooded landscapes of the Morvan. The trail takes you through shady forests, perfect for a peaceful walk amidst nature and heritage. Along the way, listen to a local legend and stop off to meet a snail farmer – snails are an iconic speciality of the Burgundy region.
