Argelès-sur-Mer walks

- From the Argelès-sur-Mer SNCF train station, climb up to the Tour de la Massane via marked trails and paths. - The hike can start from Valmy Castle near (3). See practical information. A hike that allows you to follow the Sentier du Littoral (Coastal Path) on the way there, while enjoying steep passages overlooking the sea and the beauty of certain landscapes. Visit the heart of Collioure through its picturesque narrow streets to the church and the pier, then stroll along the seafront around the Royal Castle before climbing up to Fort Saint-Elme. Return to Collioure via the windmill before heading inland to Port-Argelès via Le Racou.

Hike to discover the restored built heritage of Sant-Ferriol de la Pava and Mare de Déu del Castell and the ruins of Castell d'Ultera. Do not underestimate this hike on uncomfortable and stony paths. The final ascent to the ruins of Castell d'Ultera from (4) to (7) is difficult and should only be attempted in dry weather. A metal ladder after (5) provides access to the ruins.

This is a fairly difficult hike where a good sense of direction is necessary in places. Discovery hike with a possible passage through a tunnel. Hike along the Albères mountain range, the easternmost part of the Pyrenees, to reach the Madeloc Tower. After a few dozen difficult metres, the path to the tower offers a beautiful view of the Mediterranean coast. At the top, the panorama is unforgettable. You can see Collioure, Argèles-sur-mer, Banyuls-sur-mer, Port-Vendres, and even Spain across the Pyrenees mountain range.
