A beautiful area for spending the night in a van or camping serves as a car park. The hike starts through a free zoo, then you can cool off in the gorges before returning via the heights of the city. A great route when it's hot, which you can listen to to avoid the heat of the city on the last kilometre...

Starting from Les Blanches-Fontaines south of Undervelier (Canton of Jura), this hike offers a magnificent ascent of the Sorne river and its gorges dotted with several waterfalls, passing by Lac Vert, all in a wild environment, to the hamlet of Pichoux, then climbing up to the plateau overlooking the gorges to enjoy a magnificent view. Continue along the plateau via Rebévelier, then a moderately pleasant descent down the Côte de Tirmenté to the Combe des Beusses. Return to the lush vegetation at the bottom of the valley via the Combe es Monin (home to a private foundation dedicated to children), then a short climb to Blanche Maison with another beautiful view of the landscape and a hilly descent passing above the Pré de Joux, then through several pastures towards Undervelier. Short link along the road, climbing up the Sorne to the start.

The route forms a loop via the Métairie des Plânes, climbing the Combe Grède before reaching the Chasseral ridge to the east of the summit via the Métairie du Milieu.All the difficulties are behind you when you reach the summit, where you can enjoy a picnic. Return to the car park by descending via Les Limes and La Vieille Vacherie. (i)User comment on 21 June 2025 On Thursday 19 June, when we set off from Villeret, the Combe Grède pass was closed due to rockfalls and fallen trees and therefore inaccessible. For more information, contact the tourist office in St-Imier or Villeret. >This passage to Chasseral can be bypassed from the start by taking the left-hand path towards Les Limes, Derrière, then Pré au Auges, where you come out at the Combe Grède exit. To return from the Hotel du Chasseral, the trail leads to the Métairie de St-Jean, then back to Pré aux Auges, where you head towards St-Imier and then Villeret.

This last stage will take you to the capital of the Franches-Montagnes district, renowned for its horse breed. On leaving Glovelier, you will cross the Combe Tabeillon nature reserve. You will pass several small lakes, including the pleasant Plain de Saigne. You will cross the village of Montfaucon, built on a ridge. You will cross pastures where many horses graze before arriving in Saignelégier.

A pleasant route for exploring the canton of Jura. This five-day itinerary will take you through the canton's three districts: Delémont, Porrentruy and the Franches Montagnes.

This first stage of the Chemin du Jura begins in Delémont, the capital of the Canton of Jura. You will cross this pretty medieval town. A forest path will take you to a plateau offering a view of the Jura mountain range. Before descending to Lake Lucelle, you can enjoy another panoramic view at the Grande Roche. The village of Lucelle in Switzerland no longer has any accommodation, so you will make a short detour into Alsace, to the commune of Lucelle in France, where you can stay at the Auberge du Petit Kolhberg.

During this fourth stage, you will walk along the banks of the Doubs to Tariche. You will cross the Doubs on a self-service boat. Then you will follow a ridge overlooking the Delémont valley and the Doubs. You will take the very pleasant Combe du Bé to reach Glovelier.

If you're looking for a quiet, cool spot (don't forget your long sleeves, even in summer), you've come to the right place... It's a fairly steep climb, but it's really pretty and peaceful. At the bottom of the gorges, you'll enjoy the cool air...

Then there are the light-filled forests towards Roche Guillaume and the mountain pastures, which overlook the valley. This second stage begins in France and rejoins the Jura trail at the Ébourbettes farm. You will walk along a border path and, at Roc au Corbeau, enjoy a view of Alsace. Until Vendlincourt, you will walk through alternating pastures and wooded areas. Before arriving in Porrentruy, you will enjoy an open-air exhibition of wooden animal sculptures. Beautiful views, a lovely setting and an unusual part of the hike, crossing the death ladders.

There are no danger points on these ladders. This site, steeped in history, bears witness to the fear once inspired by these legendary places, the scene of many fatal accidents during the "bricotte" (smuggling) era, when the ladders were nothing more than tree trunks crossed by pieces of wood. Today, these comfortable family staircases, which you can climb safely, will allow you to discover the Doubs Gorges from a variety of viewpoints.

During this third stage, you will cross the historic town of Porrentruy. As you leave the town, the path runs along the edge of the woods before starting the climb to the Chalet des Chainions (Chalet des Amis de la Nature). The route then continues along a ridge before descending towards the hamlet of Seleute. As you approach Saint-Ursanne, you can admire the Clos du Doubs and its rocky massifs. You will enter the historic town of Saint-Ursanne through the Porte Saint-Paul.

Climb up to Roc au Corbeau, which straddles the French-Swiss border.

The landscapes you pass through here are among the most beautiful in the Sundgau region. The rock shelter of Mannlefelsen, a major Mesolithic site in Alsace, precedes the Ebourbettes, which tell the story of General Giraud's escape in 1942. Further on, the ruins of Morimont offer an interesting history lesson on how a medieval castle was adapted to firearms.

From the castle ruins, you will climb up to the ledges where, like tightrope walkers from one border marker to the next, you will walk along the ridge line, neither in France nor in Switzerland. You will reach the Réclère Caves, considered the most beautiful in the world by the first explorers in 1886. From Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Jules Verne to Conan Doyle's The Lost World, you will squeeze between dinosaur feet. The return journey, via the old farmhouse at Montavon, will be less adventurous.

The Raemel mountain range, two kilometres long, blocks the horizon and rises to an altitude of 832 metres. It is the highest point in the Alsatian Jura, accessible via a picturesque limestone ridge, the Sentier des douaniers or smugglers' path, which follows the French-Swiss border. This is a fairly challenging walk, but it offers magnificent views of the Swiss Jura.

This family hike takes you to the majestic Gros Chêne de Sondersdorf. Entirely in the forest, it passes through the Raedersdorf Discovery Trail, decorated with around fifty (or more) wooden sculptures and dotted with educational panels that are sure to interest children. This stage will take you from Münsingen to Rüeggisberg. The route offers several panoramic views of famous peaks: the Mönch, the Eiger and the Jungfrau, as well as Lake Thun. You will enjoy the peaceful village of Rüeggisberg and admire the remains of its former monastery.

A beautiful hike to discover Ferrette, a beautiful medieval town with its castle and the Grotte des Nains (Dwarves' Cave) with its famous legend known to everyone in Alsace.

This stage will take you from Rüeggisberg to Guggisberg. After a descent through the mountain pastures, you will walk through the Schwarzwassergraben gorge. The climb to Schwarzenburg will offer you some last views of the Bernese Alps. Before descending to Guggisberg, you can enjoy a panoramic view from the top of the Guggershorn.

Hike from Chambrelien, passing through Champ du Moulin and following the Gorges de l'Areuse trail, with several views of Lake Neuchâtel. You will follow the blue trail, where you may spot chamois, then the gorge trail to admire the waterfalls.

Kilometre Zero is the starting point of the front line established during theFirst World War. It is located on the current French-Swiss border, at a place called Le Largin. The Kilometre Zero trail explores three sections of the front line, the first kilometres of the French and German fronts, and the Swiss front at Le Largin, established along the border opposite the no man's land where boundary marker No. 111, considered the zero point of the Great War front line, is located.

Landskrön, a castle that was feared until 1814 and is now lovingly maintained by a Franco-Swiss association, and Mariastein, where crowds of pilgrims come to pray every year, are the highlights of this superb walk, which offers beautiful views on both sides of the border.

Speaking of this part of the Sundgau, André Gide wrote:"One is constantly surprised, as one crosses the forest, to find oneself in the presence of an unsuspected sheet of water, mysteriously asleep in the shelter of the beech forests; rushes adorn narrow sandy beaches at the edge of large fields of water lilies. There are also several reminders of the First World War and the front line that separated Largitzen from Bisel.

This stage will take you from Guggisberg to Schwarzsee. After a descent into the Laubbach valley, the route climbs again through beautiful forests. After skirting the rocky outcrop of Brönti Egg, you will enjoy a splendid view of the Stockhorn range as far as Gantrisch and Ochsen. At Zollhaus, you will enter the canton of Fribourg and follow the Warme Sense to Schwarzsee.

This short hike will take you to the Roman Theatre and the Mathay plain via a path with views over the Doubs and all the biodiversity associated with this coastline: dry and wet forests, cliffs, scree and ponds are home to many protected species. Play areas, picnic areas and facilities are dotted along the route.

For this third stage, after following the Aare, you will return to the shores of Lake Thun, passing the magnificent Schadau Castle. Climb up the Strättlig hill for panoramic views of the lake. Before descending to Spiez, cross the Kander Gorge via the Strättligsteg suspension bridge. You will arrive in Spiez via its vineyards and castle. This charming village lives peacefully around its marina.
