Glovelier - Saignelégier

For ease of description, the following annotations are used:
Sign R: Yellow sign with hiker pictogram.
Sign No. 31: Yellow multi-directional sign with green sticker No. 31.
The start of this hike is at the Hôtel de la Gare in Glovelier.
Signposting: R sign or sign No. 31.

(S) From the Hôtel de la Gare, take the same route as the previous day until you reach the roundabout at the entrance to the village, shortly after Glovelier church.

(1) After the roundabout, continue south-west until you reach the next intersection with a sign No. 31.

(2) Take the path on the right that follows the Tabeillon stream. Follow the directions on the various signs marked R, staying as close as possible to the Tabeillon.

(3) Cross to the left bank of the stream and continue along this beautiful valley until you reach a passage between the rocks that opens onto the Combe de Sceut.

(4) Continue along the Tabeillon and you will eventually come to a small road.

(5) As indicated by a sign marked R, head towards the Étang de Bollement, follow it and join a road in a bend.

(6) Cross the road and continue along the Tabeillon, now on its right bank. Turn right into a marshy area.

(7) Cross the railway line at the level crossing. Cross back over the railway line about 500 metres further on, using an underpass. You will arrive at the station buffet.

(8) Follow the road along the platforms of the Combe station.

(9) Cross back over the railway line and follow the Combe road for about 900 metres.

(10) Turn left and follow the signs for Plain de Saigne (small lake).

(11) Take advantage of the lake's surroundings to take a break. Continue west, pass under the railway line and rejoin the road.

(12) Turn right and cross the railway line via a bridge. Look out for sign No. 31 just before Pré-Petit-Jean station.

(13) Pass the station and the hotel of the same name. Turn right and begin the steep climb towards the village of Montfaucon. Continue through the village until you reach the Catholic church and turn towards the small square opposite the churchyard.

(14) Take the Chemin des Hauts Monts. Pass a wayside cross. Watch out for a path on the right at a signpost marked R and a barrier.

(15) Follow the path through a long meadow divided into several paddocks. Through increasingly wooded terrain, gradually approach the road at the entrance to the hamlet of Le Bémont.

(16) Stay on the pavement on the right on the road leading to the entrance to Saignelégier. Cross at the pedestrian crossing shortly after the Saignelégier cheese dairy (Tête de Moine cheese). Continue to the intersection of Rue des Rangiers and Rue de l'Hôpital.

(17) Stay on Rue des Rangiers until you reach the Saignelégier SBB railway station (E).

• The route for this hike uses the Chemin du Jura, which is marked on Swiss maps.
