Porrentruy - Saint-Ursanne

For ease of description, the following annotations are used:
Sign R: Yellow sign with hiker pictogram.
Sign No. 31: Yellow multi-directional sign with green sticker No. 31.

The start of this hike is at the Hôtel du Lion d'Or in Porrentruy.
Signposting: R sign or sign No. 31.

(S) From the Hôtel du Lion d'Or, head south-east towards the Grand-Rue and follow it to its southern end at the Auberge du Mouton.

(1) Turn right onto Rue des Baîches and look for sign No. 31 at the intersection with Rue Thurman.

(2) Turn left, pass the cantonal high school and rejoin Rue du Bannée. Follow the stadium and leave the town, continuing to the edge of the woods and stopping in front of a sign marked R.

(3) Follow the Vita trail that runs along the edge of the woods. After a bend to the right, you will come to Chemin de l'Oiselier.

(4) Continue south-west, still along the edge of the woods, until you reach a small road heading south and a new sign marked No. 31.

(5) Stay on Chemin de Fontenais. As indicated by a new sign No. 31 at elevation 484, leave this path and continue south. Pass a farm and walk along a field until you cross Chemin de Bressaucourt.

(6) Cross the small road and take the path heading south-west. Continue until you reach Les Noires Terres and you will see another signpost No. 31.

(7) Turn right towards the south-east. Start climbing towards the Lai Côte Tchetela ridge. Follow the signs for No. 31. After passing the Fréteux farm, you will come out onto the Montancy road at a hairpin bend.

(8) Continue to follow the signs until you reach the Chainions chalet, Chalet des Amis de la Nature section Ajoie (Chainions AN). Leave it on your right and after about 300 metres you will see another signpost No. 31 at a fork in the road.

(9) Turn left towards the east. Continue in this direction on almost flat ground until you reach another fork with a sign No. 31.

(10) Follow the signs downhill to the small village of Seleute.

(11) Cross the village heading east, take the road and look out for a path on the right shortly after leaving the village.

(12) Continue downhill through the woods until you reach a crossroads at the Oison Fontaine farm.

(13) Follow the direction indicated by the R sign and gradually approach Saint-Ursanne until you come to another sign, No. 31.

(14) Heading south-east, cross the Route de la Croix, then rejoin it at the entrance to the village of Saint-Ursanne. Continue to the Porte Saint-Paul.

(15) Enter the historic town and stroll through the picturesque streets before reaching the Pont Saint-Jean bridge. Cross the Doubs river and look for sign No. 31 on the left bank.

(16) Follow the Clos du Doubs road for about 300 metres.

(17) Turn left and cross a small residential area, approaching the banks of the Doubs and following it to the next bridge.

(18) Cross the Doubs again and, at the roundabout, you will arrive at the Hôtel le Chandelier, your accommodation for the night (E).
