Guggisberg - Schwarzsee via the Alpenpanorama Weg

For ease of description, the following symbols are used:
R sign: Yellow sign with hiker pictogram
W sign: Sign or diamond with the annotation Wanderweg
Sign No. 3: Yellow multi-directional sign with green sticker No. 3

The starting point for this stage is the Hotel Sternen in Guggisberg.

(S) From the Hotel Sternen, head east on the main road, pass sign No. 3 and, at the end of the village, look for a W sign that leads to the cemetery.

(1) Turn right, drive past the cemetery, then turn right again heading south. Follow the W signs, passing Holzerstlüh, Fluh and Stauden, until you reach a road in Kerhrmüle.

(2) Turn left onto the road and descend to Laubbach.

(3) Follow the direction indicated by sign No. 3, cross Laubbach and follow it for about 50 metres. At the sign on the right, turn right and start climbing up the road lined with fields to reach Aegerten.

(4) At the sign on the right, turn right towards the south-east and continue the increasingly steep climb. Gradually enter the forest and, at the signpost for W in Tiefenboden, cross a forest track. Now head south-west and join another forest track. Enjoy the more relaxing, almost flat path. At the junction at an altitude of 1049 metres, continue west as indicated by the signpost for W.

(5) At the W sign, push on to reach the Neuböden mountain pasture.

(6) Do not head towards the farm, follow the signs marked W to cross the mountain pasture and join a track. Leave it at the signpost on the right and take a path to rejoin the road leading to the Neuböden farm. Follow this road south for about 100 metres.

(7) Leave the road and take the path on the right indicated by a yellow arrow. Still in the forest, continue under the rocky outcrop of Brönnti Egg. Go around it by turning east and look for signpost No. 3. Enjoy a superb view of the mountains near Lake Thun.

(8) Heading east, return to the road at Martenen and follow it to signpost No. 3.

(9) Turn right. Begin the long descent marked by W signs, crossing the Oberste Seite and Mittlere Seite mountain pastures, and return to the road just before Unterste Seite (W sign).

(10) Follow this road, turn left and take the bridge over the Kalte Sense. Join the road to Zollhaus.

(11) Head south, pass the Zollhaus restaurant, cross the road with caution and look for sign No. 3 near the Warme Sense.

(12) Walk along the Warme Sense and cross to the left bank after about 1.3 km (sign No. 3).

(13) Continue along the river, alternating between banks and following the signs marked No. 3 to approach Schwarzsee.

(14) Cross the Warme Sense again and join the Schwarseestrasse. Follow the footpath that runs alongside the road, then turn off it. Return to the left bank of the Warme Sense and follow it to where it flows into the lake.

(15) Take the lakeside path to the Hotel Bad, your accommodation for the night (E).

• Alpine pastures: You will cross numerous alpine pastures, where farmers are very cooperative with hikers. Please stay on the paths that cross their property. Remember to close any gates behind you.
