Loop via the Arête des Saix
A loop in a little-known area at one end of the Aravis. Pretty views of Mont Blanc and the Fayet valley. Totally doable in a day, but you can use the refuges to split the route.
Loop at the Lac de la Girotte dam
This is an easy loop walk that allows you to see up close a major feature of the landscape at this end of the Beaufortain. Of industrial and historical interest (the construction of the dam is closely linked to the resistance movements in the area).
La Croix du Nivolet, via the ladders
A local classic with magnificent views of the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park, the Belledonne massif and the town of Chambéry.Ideal for hot days, the route is 90% shaded. However, it is not suitable for wet weather.
The Lac Vert and Lac de Pormenaz loop from Plaine Joux
A route through a very wild landscape between two bucolic lakes, with views of Mont Blanc. Very stony trail, ideal after rain. Shaded route in the first and last quarters.
Double loop of Mont Clocher from Hauteluce
A classic summit in the area, but with an unusual starting point. Beautiful view of part of the Les Saisies ski area. 360° panorama at Mont Clocher, and you can even catch a glimpse of the Roselend dam.
Loop at Mont Lachat starting from Bellevue
A classic in the area, with sweeping views of the Chamonix valley and the other side of Saint-Gervais. A fairly easy, family-friendly hike. There are lots of activities and games if you want to spend the day there.
Le Treu as seen from Les Avenières
A classic route in the area, offering a 360° panorama between the Aravis and Les Saisies. Beautiful views over the Val d’Arly, the ski areas of Les Saisies, Praz-sur-Arly and even Megève.
The return route runs along the foot of the Aravis massif, through fairly wild scenery.
Ban Rouge from Le Lachat
An unusual approach to the summit of Ban Rouge. Magnificent views of the Mont Blanc, Fiz and Aravis ranges. A hike that will delight skiers who frequent the resorts of Praz-sur-Arly and Flumet, revealing sections of the route that are hidden from view in winter.
