The Baigura circular walk, starting from Hélette
Baigura is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Basque Country. The 360° panorama offers views of:
- to the east and south, the Pyrenees mountain range, the Pic du Midi d’Ossau, the Pic d’Anie, the Pic d’Orrhy and the peaks of Labourd; - to the west, Navarre, Autza and Iparla;
- to the north, the beaches of the Basque Coast and the Landes.
Bianditz loop from Artikutxa park
A magnificent loop through the Artikutxa park, taking in the splendour of the beech forest and the panoramic view of the Navarre mountains via Bianditz.
Iguzki Peak and Peñas de Itsusi from Col des Veaux
A superb circular which, from Iguzki, takes us through the Peñas de Itsusi, with its steep cliffs and impressive vulture promontories.
The Mondarrain from the village of Itxassou, return via the Col d'Atharri
A very beautiful route to reach Mondarrain via the north face. The summit passes at the foot of a climbing site. See Practical Information.
The view from the summit is 360°, from the Basque Coast (Côte d'Argent) to the Béarn Pyrenees, passing by the peaks of Navarre.
La Petite Rhune and the unusual features of La Rhune from Trabenia
La Petite Rhune, passing by the Yasola venta, offers an unusual view of La Rhune. Follow this trail towards the Col de Kizkuitz to discover an unusual feature of the Rhune massif. The return to the Col des Trois Fontaines will allow you to seek out the little secrets of the Ihizelai rocky plateau.
Elhorriko Kaskoa et Urrizpilota depuis le col d'Ispéguy
Above Baigorry, from the Col d'Ispegi, climb through the forest along the border to reach the majestic Col d'Elhorrieta. The route to Elhorriko Kaskoa and Urrizpilota offers fantastic views of the peaks of Baztan: Autza, Gorramendi, Irrubelkasko and the Iparla range: Buztanzelai, Astate and Pic d'Iparla.The route passes between border markers 98 and 102.
Pic de Toutoulia via the Col d'Harrieta from Urdoz
A beautiful circular route at the foot of the Iparla cliffs to the Col d’Harrieta, where you cross over to the Spanish side into a majestic landscape with the Astate (1022 m) and the Buztanzelhai (1029 m) to the south, the Gorra range (1074 m) opposite, and to the north, Toutoulia (987 m) and Iparla (1049 m).
Occabé loop and cromlechs via Chalet Pedro
Occabé is the highest point on the Iraty plateau. It offers a 360° view of the Pyrenees mountain range. The Occabé plateau is home to the most extraordinary megalithic site in the Basque Country. The ascent and descent take you through the largest beech forest in Europe. It's beautiful everywhere.
Urkulu from the Organbide Pass
A beautiful circular route on grassy slopes between 1,000 and 1,400 m takes you to an exceptional panorama, the ruins and the Roman tower, which rises to 1,423 m. A great moment and a great memory.

Pasaia-San Sebastian - Amara along the coastal path
Leave your car in Hendaye and take this superb walk along the coastal path using the TOPO.Get off at Herrera station and head for the harbour of Pasaia-San Pedro, the starting point of the coastal path.Pass by Mont Ulia and its leisure park. In San-Sebastian, make a detour to Monte Urgull, with its fortress, monumental Christ (it's Rio) and view of Santa-Klara Island and the bay.
Return to Amara station and take the TOPO to Hendaye.
Les Gorra and Barda (Akomendi) from Itzulegi circular
This circular route covers the peaks of the "Gorra" mountain range between 850 m and 1100 m above sea level. The 360° panorama from the ridges offers a selection of images of the Basque Country, including the Baztan valley (Alkurruntz, Autza), the Iparla mountain range, the green hills of Gorospil, Mondarrain, and the Sare valley with... La Rhune. The return trail to the west crosses a beautiful forest of oak and pine trees and several small, very bucolic streams.
Legate from Lekaroz (Baztan)
Legate (870 m) is one of the most picturesque peaks in the Baztan valley. Located to the North of Elizondo, the view from the summit is 360°, with Askolegi dominating the Bertiz park. Below, a majestic calvary leads the way back to the hamlet of Lekaroz.
Otsaxar, Otsamuho et Errola en boucle depuis les Aldudes
Cette boucle, à l'Est du village des Aldudes, permet de faire une belle trilogie de sommets Otsaxar (825 m), Otsamuhno (901 m) et Errola (907 m), ornés de promontoire rocheux, dans le cadre enchanteur des collines de Basse Navarre. Le retour face aux crêtes Ouest des Aldudes nous donne une vue superbe sur la Peña de Alba, l'Hargibel et le Zarkindegi. On revient au village par le Sud et on découvre (ou redécouvre) les spécialités du village !

Hernio via Gazume from Iturrioitz
A lovely circular route to Hernio. The path is very steep for the final ascent from the hunters’ hut.
From Gazume (1002 m), you can head straight down the ridge to reach the hunters’ hut.
Goizamendi, Antsestegi and Lizartzu from Lizarmeaka (Otxondo)
A beautiful circular route along the ridges from Otxondo offering panoramic views of the Baztan Valley, then the Gorra range and the peaks of the Basque Country. At Lizartzu, you can visit the three caves, remnants of the Franco era. On the return journey, you’ll discover the western slope, with the Côte Basque, La Rhune, Atxuria and the jewel of the Baztan, Alkurruntz.
