From Hendaye, take the TOPO to Herrera station.
Turn left at the traffic lights. Cross the boulevard and follow the pedestrian walkway to the North. Take the footbridge, which branches off to the North-East.
(S/E) Follow the boulevard East to the Port of San Pedro.
(1) Continue along the Ria de Pasaia, following the yellow signs to the bottom of the steps leading up to the Ondartxo semaphore.
(2) Climb the steps of the Ondartxo stone staircase until you reach the road which ends at an esplanade at the foot of the Ondartxo semaphore. From this esplanade, the coastal path heads West, then South, signposted White-Red or Yellow, until it meets a concrete road.
Cross this road and continue westwards, marked Red-White, until you reach a crossroads of paths with an information panel. Descend to the right towards Donibane and reach a lookout point with a cave carved out by the wind.
(3) Retrace your steps to reach the trail junction. Follow the path up to the South, signposted Green. Follow the wide path South to the Mont Ulia leisure area.
(4) Head West again on a narrow path that passes the Tour des Baleiniers. Continue downhill to the West until you reach the path leading to Donibane, marked Red-White. Continue left to Donibane. Reach Zurriolako beach and walk along it to the bridge.
Cross the bridge and turn right along the Rio, towards San Telmo. Follow the sidewalk from the bridge. Turn left at the Museo de San Telmo sign and climb the concrete staircase to the fortress and Castillo de San Telmo. Take the stairs to the Castillo de la Mota, at the foot of the monumental statue of Christ of San Telmo.
(5) Join the access path to the fortress at the foot of the ramparts. Turn right again, South-West, to the Santa Klara esplanade facing Mont Igeldo.
(6) Retrace your steps and go down a narrow path to the right to join a wide path that winds up to the marina. Join the Kontxa esplanade and follow it due South to the Hôtel de Londres. Cross to the left and follow the long avenue past the hotel to the Amara train station (S/E).
From here, take the TOPO back to Hendaye.
