Veyrier walks

A very varied route, passing through the historic village of Sierne, the Étang des Petites Îles, the village of Veyrier, its woods and the banks of the Arve.

A walk along a very sunny route, particularly well-suited to the winter cold. The first half of the route roughly follows the French-Swiss border and rejoins it at the end. No particular difficulties apart from the distance (which can be shortened). There’s quite a lot of tarmac, but this avoids the mud on the dirt tracks during the wet season.

From Geneva to Salève in 2 hours and 800 metres of elevation gain.

Just a stone’s throw from Carouge, explore the Drize valley, then the paths in the municipality of Troinex.

Starting from Pas de l’Échelle, a lovely route that ends at the upper station of the Salève cable car, passing through the Vallon de Monnetier, the Bûcherons trail, the top of the Petite Gorge and the summit plateau. A hike featuring some very exposed sections, reserved for those with absolutely no fear of heights, and requiring the utmost caution.

A short bike ride in the Geneva countryside. Ideal for families. It starts gently on a section of the greenway, which you then leave before returning to it briefly before the finish. The ride passes through Chêne-Bourg, then heads into Champel, Bout du Monde and Veyrier, before completing a beautiful circular loop through the countryside. The ride then continues to Thonex, Puplinge, Choulex and Vandoeuvres. Be patient at the end, as the roads are narrow and you may encounter motorists travelling in the opposite direction on one-way streets.

A circular trail, ideal for discovering the different facets of the Petit Salève. As this part of the Salève is quite busy, set off early in the morning or avoid weekends.

A beautiful cycle route linking Les Eaux-Vives in Geneva to the Hilton Évian-les-Bains, mainly following the southern shore of Lake Geneva. The route passes through Cologny, Vésenaz, Anières and Hermance before crossing the French border. It then continues via Chens-sur-Léman, Messery, Nernier, Yvoire, Excenevex, Sciez and Thonon-les-Bains. Between Thonon and Évian, the route follows the ViaRhôna corridor via the port of Rives, Ripaille Castle, Saint-Disdille, the Dranse delta and Amphion-les-Bains. The route alternates between cycle paths, greenways, shared minor roads and a few urban sections. It is generally easy to cycle, but is not entirely separated from traffic.

A tour of Geneva city centre that takes in the main tourist attractions of the old town, including the port and all its hustle and bustle.

The Salève in Haute Savoie is a bit like the mountain of the people of Geneva. The Grotte d'Orjobet still bears the stamp of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club). From Le Coin, a steady climb takes you to the cave, which you can then cross. After a final climb, you come out onto the plateau, which is also an alpine pasture. The view is simply magnificent.

A circular trail that showcases the many facets of Salève: climb up via the Orjobet Cave, pass through the Trou de la Tine, Vire de la Corraterie, viewpoint towards Mont Blanc and Rochers de Faverges, viewpoints from the Observatory over Geneva and Lake Geneva, descent via the Grande Gorge and return to the start by passing under the large rock climbing routes.

The title of this hike sums up the route, and once you reach the heights of Salève, you can enjoy numerous views of the Genevois, Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc massif. Please note that there are a few tricky sections between the Orjobet Cave (2) and La Corraterie (4).

Passage through the “Pierre Vieille”, which are large erratic granite boulders deposited by glaciers millions of years ago from the Mont Blanc massif. I will then take you to the Crêt du Chable for a view of the Arve Valley and Mont Blanc. This route is not recommended for those prone to vertigo or in adverse weather conditions.

This hike takes you up to the Salève via a (steep) climb up the wooded slope, following the route of the old funicular railway to reach the cable car station and then the Observatory. Once on the Salève ridge, you can enjoy the many remarkable views over Geneva, Lake Geneva, the Jura Mountains and unforgettable panoramas across the entire Mont Blanc range.

This is a pleasant hike, with beautiful views of the Mont Blanc range in the first part. From the cable car station, the Geneva basin spreads out below you.

A pleasant walk starting from La Croisette, with a loop route at the top of Salève, on a short section of the "Balcon du Léman". The Salève des Pitons (or Pitons) is not the most spectacular part of Mont Salève, but it nevertheless offers exceptional views (the Franco-Genevan basin, the Jura mountain range, the Geneva harbour/Petit-lac, the Vaud and Valais Alps, the Arve Valley, the Chablais, the Mont Blanc range, the Bornes, the Aravis, etc.).

A lovely walk through the countryside around Saint-Julien and Geneva, straddling the border between Switzerland and France.Lovely views of the Salève, the Jura, the Vuache and the very pretty surrounding countryside.Ideal on fine winter’s days as it’s at a low altitude. The fact that it’s classified as a medium-difficulty walk is mainly down to the length of the route (around 13 km); apart from that, the walk is easy going, even with teenagers.

A short walk for a late afternoon on the Salève.

A lovely walk of about two hours, with breathtaking views, the countryside, several pretty hamlets and small villages, interesting architecture (both old and new), gardens, vegetable patches, and views over the Arve Valley towards Vertraz-Mentoux and Lake Geneva.

An easy circular walk.

During this hike, you can admire the views of Lake Geneva and the Jura from La Thuile, then from the Grand Piton. You’ll take a short detour to the Grotte du Diable. For three-quarters of the hike, you’ll be sheltered from the sun.

Discover the Maison du Salève, the Chartreuse de Pomier and the mysterious Bois des Fées An easy hike, even for children, that is both cultural and fun.

A pleasant little walk starting from the Maison du Salève car park, above Pomier, with a section on the Petites Croix trail, to Les Convers. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
