Park in the covered car park at Cornavin station (payable).
(S/E) Head north-east along Rue de Lausanne. Then turn right into Rue du Môle (after Rue de la Navigation). At the end, first turn left then right onto Rue de l'Ancien Port. Cross Place Jean Marteau to reach Quai Wilson. Then turn right and walk along the lake.
(1) On the left is the Jetée des Pâquis (paid access). Continue along the lake, parallel to Quai du Mont-Blanc. Pass the Grand Casino (on your right) and then the ferry terminal (on your left).
(2) Turn slightly right to enter Square des Alpes, where the Brunswick Mausoleum is located.
Reach Quai du Mont-Blanc and follow it to the right.
(3) Ignore the Pont du Mont Blanc bridge on your left and continue straight ahead. After 80 metres, turn left onto the Pont des Bergues bridge.
(4) Turn left to go to Île Rousseau (statue of Jean-Jacques Rousseau). Retrace your steps.
(4) Continue south on the bridge. Cross the boulevard and go around the Protestant church. Reach the lake shore and follow Quai Bezanson-Hugues to the left.
At Pont d'Ile, turn left, cross Place de Bel-Air and follow Rue de la Corraterie. Cross Place de Neuve and turn left to enter Jardin des Bastions. Walk along Rue de la Croix Rouge to reach the Reformation Monument.
(5) Continue and then turn right to stroll freely through the vast green space of the Promenade des Bastions (see note below).
(6) Exit the garden through the south-east gate and turn left onto Rue Saint Léger. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead, slightly to the left via Place du Bourg-de-Four (see note below) and immediately turn left onto Rue de l'Hôtel-de-Ville. Follow it north-west to the old arsenal and turn right onto Rue du Puits-Saint-Pierre.
(7) After Maison Tavel, take thefirst street on the right (Rue Otto Barblan) and go around Saint-Pierre Cathedral on the left, taking Rue du Cloître. Continue straight ahead, slightly to the right via the Passage des Degrés (stairs passing under a house) and turn left onto thesecond street: Rue Verdaine, which continues as Rue de la Tour-Maîtresse before ending at Rue du Rhône.
Cross Rue du Rhône, continue straight ahead, cross Quai du Général Guisan and turn slightly right onto Quai Gustave Ador.
Walk along the entire Promenade du Lac and turn left to reach the water jet (height 140m)
(8) Continue to the end of the pier to admire the scenery, then turn around to return to the promenade.
Turn right and walk past the shuttle boat pier that crosses the harbour.
You will arrive at the bust of Gustave Ador. Turn right into the Jardin Anglais and admire the flower clock at its north-western end.
(9) Leave the garden and turn right onto the Pont du Mont-Blanc bridge.
(3) Continue straight ahead, slightly diagonally to the left, and follow Rue du Mont-Blanc, which leads to Cornavin station (S/E).
