Swingfield walks

This linear Kent walk follows the coast between Folkestone and Dover using the North Downs Way Natioanl Trail for much of the way. The vies especially at the Dover end of the walk area excellent. To return to the start use the regular train service that runs along the foot of the cliffs.

From the National Trust Visitor Centre, enter the Channel Geopark Transmanche and walk along the clifftop enjoying views of the harbour, Dover castle, ferries, white cliffs. This is an ideal walk as you wait for the ferry.

This short walk starts at Dover Patrol War Memorial car park and goes along the clifftop down to Saint Margaret's Bay. ⚠️At the bay, be careful about the tide timetable.

A rural route (avoiding habitation) around the Stour Valley. Starting through King's Wood and a little of the North Downs Way heading north, crossing the valley and picking up some of the Stour Valley Walk heading south before crossing the river again and heading back into the woods.

A small part of the Saxon Shore Way. A great walk along Faversham Creek to Hollowshore. Great pub, then a shorter walk back through farmland. Enjoy the beautiful desolation of the marshes, just you, the birds, and the breeze. Stop for a rest or bite to eat at the wonderful Shipwrights Arms, then either re-trace your steps or take the shorter walk back through Ham Farm.

This Kent walk explores a unique landscape, offers excellent bird watching and in complete contrast you pass a nuclear powerstation. There is also the opportunity to ride a steam train!

Should we walk from Margate to Ramsgate or from Ramsgate to Margate? Whichever way you want to do this walk, it is one of the most popular hikes on the South Coast and a MUST-DO! Whilst Ramsgate is much prettier than Margate, the food is better in Margate … so it’s all about what you prefer! For the purpose of this walk, we will be doing the walk from Margate to Ramsgate.

This Kent walk explores the marshes, creeks and tideways on the south side of the River Swale. On the far side of the water is the Isle of Sheppey and in season the area is an excellent place for watching birdlife.

Nice little wander along Queen's promenade past Walpole Bay Tidal Pool. The white cliffs bring a nice atmosphere. It is an ideal for a little swim and sunset.

This Walk starts at the car park in front of The Botany Bay restaurant and goes along the Coastal path to visit Kingsgate Bay and Castle via Whiteness Tower. There is also the chance to walk down to Botany Bay to enjoy the white cliffs and rock formations. The first part of the walk is pushchair-friendly. Dogs are allowed.

Pleasant hike that crosses through pastures, crops, apple orchards and some vineyards. The majority of the circuit is along grassy paths. When crossing pastures, don't forget to close gates behind you.

Start on the country side, across a field with Cap Blanc Nez in the distance behind you and the English cliffs on your right, in fine weather. Halfway along, take a break on the beach. Return to the top of the cliffs, where you'll appreciate all the notches and the panoramic view of Cap Gris Nez.26/06/2023 The hike has been modified because the passage is forbidden by the hole at Quette and the crossing of the Châtelet stream cannot be made anymore via the dunes.

A loop from the old fort of Ambleteuse to Cap Gris Nez: go along the cliffs by the sea and return inland via the remains of blockhouses.
