From Botany Bay to Kingsgate Bay and Castle via Whiteness Tower

This Walk starts at the car park in front of The Botany Bay restaurant and goes along the Coastal path to visit Kingsgate Bay and Castle via Whiteness Tower. There is also the chance to walk down to Botany Bay to enjoy the white cliffs and rock formations. The first part of the walk is pushchair-friendly. Dogs are allowed.

Description of the walk

Start: Botany Bay restaurant car park along Marine Drive. Grid ref. TR 392 710

(S/E) With your back to Botany Bay restaurant, cross the road to catch up the paved footpath along the clifftop. (Thanet Coastal Path).

(1) As you walk past the gold course on your right-hand side, reach Neptune Tower. Carry on past it then when you walk past the playground on your left, turn left between the playground and car park.

(2) Walk at the back of Captain Digby pub to reach the road where you turn left on the pavement toward Kingsgate castle.

(3) Just before the castle find steps on your left and walk down to the beach at Kingsgate Bay to get another perspective of the white cliffs. Here you can even enjoy a little swim.

(4) At low tide, you might be able to walk back along the beach otherwise walk back up the same way. However when you reach Botany Bay restaurant again, walk past it on your left and at the information board and junction, take the steps right, down past the toilets on your left-hand side to reach the beach. Here turn right to enjoy a little hidden place and rock formation before you walk back the same way to your car.(S/E)
