On the ridges: Grand Ballon – Markstein – Petit Ballon

An easy route, gently undulating across the highest peaks of the Vosges, through stubble fields and forests. Magnificent views over the surrounding valleys.

(7) Please note: there are two possible routes to the Col de la Lauchen; see the photo and on-site signs.

Are there any drinking water points along the route? It’s hard to remember eight years on.
At the very least, there are the farm inns we pass by....
Sorry I can’t tell you any more.

Beautiful scenery, but not very wild (roads, noise from motorbikes, crowds on Sundays...)
Easy, no difficulties (difficulty rating needs reviewing, average given the length)
