(S/E) The starting point is at the Haag Pass, where there is ample parking. Take the yellow-marked trail that starts on the left on the north side. Continue for about 500 metres until you reach the red and white-marked trail that descends to the right.
(1) Continue downhill towards Lac du Ballon, following the path, which is ravined in places. The beech trees gradually give way to fir trees until you reach the forest path that goes around the lake. Follow this forest path to the left towards the lake car park. It is also possible to take the path that runs along the lake below the forest road.
(2) Once you reach the car park, continue straight ahead on the Blue Cross marked trail until you reach the dyke, which you can access by going down a flight of granite steps. Then take the path that climbs gently to the left and then descends on a long, slight incline to the Gustiberg farm.
(3) Immediately after crossing the farmyard, leave the path and take the trail on the right marked with a red-white-red rectangle and cross the meadows towards the nearby forest. You will then begin the steepest part of the route through this forest with its variety of tree species until you reach the stubble fields.
(4) At the fork at the edge of the forest, turn right and follow the low stone wall to reach the access road to the Roedelen farm.
(5) After passing the farm, leave the path and take the trail on the right, still marked with a red-white-red rectangle, which climbs towards the Grand Ballon. The trail becomes a simple track in the stubble for a few hundred metres until it joins the path leading directly to the Haag Pass.
(6) Cross this path and continue straight ahead to reach the Vue des Alpes car park.
(7) Cross the Route des Crêtes and climb towards the hotel, which you will pass on your left to reach the path behind the building.
(8) All that remains is to descend gently along the path overlooking the Route des Crêtes to the Haag Pass (S/E).
