St. Stephens by Launceston Rural walks

This route takes the Southerly route to the Brown Willy Tor, you will be entering open moorland. An alternative route to the highest Tor in Cornwall UK. Not so much a circular walk but more like a there-and-back walk, although variations and or additions to the plotted route can be made, subject to competence in remote walking. Shortly after the first waypoint, the route doesn't follow paths on the map. It is strongly recommended that you follow the route using the GPX on the Visorando app.

On the east side of Bodmin moors is a small moorland village of Minions, where there is a pleasant walk along a disused railway line, with a short climb to the top of Stowe Hill and the Cheesewring, before following a track back to a standing stone and The Hulers stone circles.

This nice walk explores Bodmin Moor using paths next to Little Rough Tor until you reach Brown Willy summit (420m) with spectacular views. The return way uses mainly pretty flat paths around Rough Tor and goes past Fernacre Stone Circle.

It's an easy family walk in Bodmin Moor leading to stunning 360° viewpoints from Showery and Rough Tors. It's a lovely place to enjoy the colors of sunset as well!

Myth or legend, King Arthur, has many deep-seated roots here in Cornwall, from nearby Tintagel Castle, Excalibur's Sword in Dozmary Pool. King Arthur's Hall, high up on Bodmin Moor, adds more to the legend of the King. The route pays homage to the Wessex memorial, climbs the highest point in Cornwall, and then onto King Arthur's Hall, a neolithic enclosure; however, recent research has suggested that the whole area could be hundreds of years earlier.

This is a small (but often wet and slippery, be careful with children!) spectacular hike along the River Lyd in a loop. You will discover the deepest river gorge in the south-west using several impressive footbridges over the gorge and you will see a beautiful waterfall too.

This circular walk explores the coast next to Cambeak and Tremoutha Haven by the South West Coast path from Crackington Haven to The Strangles. Then you will use peaceful paths inland along a stream in East Wood.

The walk starts at Lydford and makes its way up onto open moorland. It is a day walk. On a clear day, there will be far-reaching views, and on a not-so-clear day, refreshing navigation skills. This walk will lead you into open moorland. From (4) to (7), the route doesn't follow paths on the map. It is strongly recommended that you follow the route using the GPX on the Visorando app, with the backup of a map and compass. NOTE: Dartmoor's weather can change in an instant; one minute it's sunny, and the next, thick with fog, it can be dry, then heavy rain.

The wild open speces of Dartmoor can be appreciated on this walk. The route takes you past a number of rocky tors, visits an area used for peat cutting and follows a section of the Rattlestone Peat Railway. All in all a walk full of interest.

This wonderful short walk takes you down along a stream and up through the woods to Venn Farm. It is so peaceful. There's a little waterfall and a pond. We saw geese, newts and dragonflies, and in the woods we saw woodpeckers, and roe deer. Magical. It is a little overgrown in places and there is quite a steep climb as you leave the woods.

This small and easy walk mainly in Denhman wood lets you discover old Denham bridge (17th-century) and the banks of the River Tavy.

This is an easy family walk around Upper Tamar Lake. On your way, you can even use bird-watching facilities!

This easy walk (but with a few steep sections and stiles) mainly uses paths and tracks across Deviock, Quarryhill and Hurstocks woods. You can also see Wheal Glynn mine, an old silver and lead mine in ruins, during this pleasant walk.

The Devon village of Yelverton is the start and end point for this walk that includes a circuit of the Burrator Reservoir. The route includes some typical country lanes of the area and views to some of Dartmoor's Tors.

Yelverton is a junction for many moorland trails; this route follows some of the West Devon Way and the Drake's Trail. Following a section of the disused railway and an old mining track. A circular route with a convenient 'watering hole' at the halfway point. This route can also be completed by bicycle; it also has the potential to extend along the Plym Valley Trail to Plymouth and beyond.

This circular walk with ascents and descents From Duckpool Bay uses the South West Coast path along Warren Gutter and Stowe Cliffs. Then, you will discover peaceful woods and Coombe Valley inland.
