Around Deerpark Wood

Park your car at Forestry Commission Deerpark Forest (close to Herodsfoot).

(S/E) Head down to the steep path in woods ignoring the track on your right. At the junction, turn left following the flat path for half a mile until you see a barrier on your left.

(1) Head to this barrier, Turn left onto the road, then turn right down at crossroads following "Deerpark cabins reception" until you reach a track starting on your left past a barrier. Follow this track for one mile which then bends sharply right.

(2) At the end of the descent, bear right, go past a recycling point and Deerpark Cabins Bike hire. Turn right ascending the road. Go past "little mill Bothy", then past a small bump, turn left onto a narrow path (not very clear). Turn left again left at the next junction. Continue this way overlooking a stream, then joining another path. Go ahead until you reach a barrier and the road. Turn right for 100 meters and bear left onto a path. Continue down ignoring the one on your right.

(3) Your path bends sharply left at the next junction. Then, go ahead and past a small bridge over a stream, turn right (the path in front of you leads to private land without public access). Continue straight ahead ascending the main path becoming flat leading to a gravel track. Bear right onto this track, cross a bridge (notice protection barriers). Follow this track bending left then right until you reach the car park.(S/E)
