Loop from Cognières to Rougemont via the Chapel of Montaucivey
A beautiful loop starting from the town hall in Cognières, combining nature, heritage and tranquillity. The route passes through Montagney and runs alongside the Ognon river before climbing gently towards the woods and the Saint-Hilaire chapel, then the Montaucivey chapel, offering superb unobstructed views of the countryside. Pass through Rougemont and its national necropolis. Between typical villages, forests and rural paths, ponds and rivers, this walk offers a beautiful variety of landscapes and a rich heritage to discover, in a calm and bucolic atmosphere.
A double circular route between Cognières and Trévey
Set off on a lovely circular walk through woods and fields, offering superb panoramic views. Accessible on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback, this walk with gentle gradients is suitable for everyone. The route begins at the Cognières viaduct, before passing through Bouhans, its woods and vast fields. You’ll then reach the Dampierre Forest, leading to the village of Trevey, where the pond is a lovely spot for a break. The return route takes you past the Cognières memorial stone, on the edge of the forest and fields, providing a lovely end to the walk. A varied walk, perfect for enjoying nature and recharging your batteries.

A pleasant circular loop through the forest, suitable for walking, mountain biking or horse riding, with no significant elevation gain.
The route is unmarked; follow the map and description, as the vegetation may vary depending on the season. As this is a forest walk, please wear suitable footwear.

Circular walk south of Rougemont via the Croix de Rognon
A lovely circular route through woods and meadows with beautiful views all along the trails. Several picnic areas. In spring, a profusion of flowers (over 20 species) bloom to delight the eye.
On the Romain-la-Roche plateau
A day-long walk offering the chance to see various types of karst sinkholes, visit Montby Castle and walk through fields of daffodils if the walk takes place in early March.
From the Neanderthals to the 21st century
A walk that takes you on a journey through time, from the caves and wild landscapes of the Neanderthal era to the wind turbines of modern man. Some sections of the route are off-trail and difficult when vegetation is at its thickest (access to the Grotte de la Pucelle, in particular, from the corner of Cut IX). Avoid wearing shorts!
Romain la Roche
A route allowing you to discover several well-known and lesser-known sights in the region: Trou du Seri, Château and Lavoir de Gondenans les Moulins, Village of Nans, Châteaux de Bournel, La Gloriette, the cliff and château of Nans, the Grotte de la Pucelle and the Roche de Romain.
Between Authoison and Ruhans
This is a circular route designed for walking but can also be done by mountain bike or on horseback. A mix of forest tracks, farm tracks and footpaths. This walk, mainly through woodland, follows a very short section of the Way of St James. The forest is very well maintained and the paths are clean.
La Tour des Bois, starting from La Tour-de-Sçay
Climb the 146 steps of the Tour des Bois to discover a 360° panorama from a height of 26 metres.
A third of the route is through woodland and the rest follows a track through the wind farm, one of the largest in France, which is shared between Rougemont, La Tour-de-Scay and Autechaux, in the Central Doubs. On clear days, you can see 36 of the farm’s 43 wind turbines from the top of the tower.
