Ménétréol-sur-Sauldre walks

This is an iconic route in Pierrefitte-sur-Sauldre, a village in the Sologne region renowned for its game-rich forests, ponds and brick architecture. The Étang des Césars, remarkable for its size and rich wildlife, inspires tranquillity.

A beautiful circular in Sologne, the first part of this circular follows wide paths, while the second part quickly becomes wilder and more typical of the Sologne landscape.

This beautiful circular walk begins along the Canal de la Sauldre, with its locks, small bridges and weirs. It then enters the forest, along long paths lined with ponds, and ends with an almost complete tour of the Étang du Puits, via Cerdon beach, the pretty path that winds between the trees along a small disused railway line, the crossing of the Bois aux Moines and, finally, the path that runs alongside the Canal and the beach at Argent-sur-Sauldre.

A lovely circular route entirely through the forest with varied and very quiet paths. Ideal for nature lovers.

An easy route, with a variant, open to pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. The Blue Route is rich in heritage that characterises Blancafort: the canal, the river, the old marl pits and the paths rehabilitated for the enjoyment of walkers by the Blancafort et Patrimoine Association. Five other trails are suggested on the sign at the wash house (canal bridge, Euro monument).

A superb walk. The varied landscapes of this circular route, including forests, meadows, ponds and the banks of the Sauldre Canal, make for a very pleasant walk.

A very pretty circular route on the border between Cher and Loiret. Its long paths will take you to the Borne des Quatre Paroisses, the meeting point of the communes of Cerdon-du-Loiret, Brinon-sur-Sauldre, Villemurlin and Isdes. The walk through the forest on the border between Loiret and Cher is worth the detour alone.

Starting from Souvigny, a village that has remained close to its history with its remarkable church with a caquetoir, this is a walk through woods and moors to discover the architecture of the Sologne region.

Starting from the pretty village of Souvigny-en-Sologne, this route will take you to the gates of Sennely along paths lined with forests and ponds. Here you will find all the charm of the Sologne, the Sologne as we love it, a natural and wild Sologne.

A short and pleasant walk in the countryside near Barlieu.

Mainly on dirt, sand or gravel paths, this fairly easy circuit takes you through the peaceful and varied landscapes of the Sologne: ponds, forests, hedgerow-enclosed pastures and interspersed crops. At the start and finish, the pretty village of Villemurlin offers a typical Sologne charm with its brick houses and blue ladders, reminders of a time when the attic was accessed from outside. Initially shared with the family path of Villemurlin (the "chouette promenade" or "owl walk"), this route then takes a shortened version of the former "PR® des domaines de chasse et cultures" (hunting grounds and farmland), of which a few signs remain.

A lovely circular route through the forests of Sologne, criss-crossed by streams feeding numerous ponds. This circular route goes around the Baillère Valley, through which the Tannerie flows before joining the Cosson, which you will cross twice.

On the border between Sancerre and Champagne Berrichonne, this route starts in Parassy and allows you to discover part of the vineyards of the famous Ménetou AOC. This route, which follows part ofthe GR®31, also offers a short climb to the Bois de Michavant, where you can admire Champagne Berrichonne dominated by Bourges Cathedral.

The walk follows the famous Chemin des Sables, with its heather, broom, mosses and lichens, and sections through mixed woodland. Beautiful farmhouses and homes dot the route.

In the foothills of the Sancerre region, overlooking the Berry countryside, come and discover some of the Morogues vineyards that produce the renowned AOC wines of Ménetou-Salon. This is also the starting point for the famous Morogues-Sancerre hike, which many people do at night and don't get to enjoy the scenery. On the way back, depending on the weather, you may be able to see Bourges Cathedral and the Berry countryside.

The suggested ride around Morogues will allow you to discover the different landscapes of this area: passing through vineyards, with views of the Berry countryside or the Sancerre region. It is a hilly route without any major difficulties that can be covered by mountain bike.

On the edge of the Sologne, this circuit brings together the typical landscapes that make up the charm of this natural region near the Loire: meadows, ponds, forests, interspersed with crops and pretty brick houses. The little river Sange brings it to life and gives it a little relief. Marked in yellow, this route is also signposted in places as "PR® de la Vallée de la Sange - P 11". Despite two sections on the road, 70% of this circuit is on unpaved paths.

This circular route is very representative of the Sologne region, with its forests covered in moss, heather and ferns, its paths that are sometimes wide and straight, sometimes winding, grassy or muddy, its ponds and its brick houses, all of which contribute to its charm.

Starting from Ménestreau, a typical village with red brick houses, this route aims to bring back memories of a huge forest with a variety of tree species, in the heart of the Sologne region of ponds.

This hike aims to revive memories of a vast, partly forgotten forest that once stretched across the present-day communes of Saint-Cyr-en-Val, Marcilly-en-Villette and Ménestreau-en-Villette. It ends in a riot of colour during the rhododendron flowering season (May to June), when the undergrowth around the Château de Villette is covered with these flowers.

A very pleasant getaway in the Sologne region, with a peaceful route through woods dotted with ponds. Avoid days when hunting is in season!

This route is offered by the Gien Town Hall to explore the town while learning about its history and discovering its heritage. As you progress, you will find information boards with explanations of the various historical points of interest identified. I am sharing it here, with my personal modifications to the route and the various points of interest, which are more or less in the same positions.

This first stage runs along the Loire to take you to Briare, a charming little town full of flowers, with its small river port. Please note: this hike can be done either as part of the 3-stage Gien - Cosne-sur-Loire hike, or on its own by taking the train from Briare back to Gien.

Circular route, or almost a circular route, to be covered mostly along grassy paths. If you remain alert and quiet, you are almost certain to spot wildlife, which is very common in this area. Indeed, red deer, roe deer and wild boar have made this their territory.
