Tour of Lake Charpal
Hike around Lake Charpal in a completely unspoilt protected natural site. The path does not stray far from the lake, so the elevation gain is very low and the route is easy. Much of the route is through woodland, ideal in summer when it is hot.
Tour of Truc de Fortunio
Tour du Truc de Fortunio, a hike of moderate difficulty due to the limited elevation gain. The scenery is varied: wild and surrounded by nature.
A breathtaking view upon reaching the highest point.

The upper Langouyrou valley via Cheylard-l'Évêque
A very pleasant hike through meadows and woods, the latter being very diverse. There are many landscapes and viewpoints, notably over the Mercoire forest and the Moure de la Gardille. All seasons are interesting: spring with its rushing rivers, summer with its refreshing forests, autumn marked by a symphony of colours.
Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole – Aumont-Aubrac
Nineteenth stage of the Way of St James. This final stage in Margeride before crossing the Aubrac is fairly short and allows you to recover from the previous stages by visiting the pretty town of Aumont-Aubrac.
You’ll be walking through a landscape of streams and mountain flora, with magnificent scenery!
Cheylard-l'Évêque - Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Abbey
Fifth stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This stage includes significant changes to the GR®70 signposting. Alternatives exist, notably to go directly to La Bastide-Puylaurent without passing through Notre-Dame-des-Neiges.

Le Moure de la Gardille and the sources of the Allier
A beautiful route around the little-known sources of the Allier.
Circular walk of the castles and fortified towns of Alleyras
Starting from Pont d’Alleyras station, a crossing point over the Allier for over 2,000 years, the Vabres plain has always been dotted with numerous castles and watchtowers to control the passage of travellers. This route follows one of the two Roman roads designed to link Bordeaux, the capital of Aquitaine, with Lyon, the capital of Gaul, passing through the southern part of the Massif Central towards Rodez and Cahors. In the Middle Ages, the River Allier formed the boundary between the Velay and the Gévaudan regions.
Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas - Pradelles
This route is the third stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This is undoubtedly the easiest stage of the tour. The route follows the GR®70 (follow the well-known GR® markings). Please note the route may have been slightly modified from what is shown on the map, in particular to avoid a few short stretches of busy road.
Ancient Roman road and the Devès Plateau
A hike with completely unobstructed views, at an altitude of 1,200 m, offering a beautiful view of the Margeride plateaus, via the old track running alongside the Forêt du Devès. Return via the hamlets and farm tracks of the plateau.
The path around Lac du Bouchet
An ideal place for a walk, Lac du Bouchet is reminiscent of a Canadian lake. A real gem in its forest setting, this circular lake of volcanic origin occupies the site of an ancient crater.
The suggested route allows you to walk around it. It is a very easy walk that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The Moure de la Gardille from Mirandol
Circular walk to the summit of Moure de la Gardille at an altitude of over 1,500 metres.
Depart from Mirandol via the old Chemin de la Balade trail, heading towards Airolle and the Sources de l'Allier, and return via Sogne Longue and Les Mouleyres.
Loop above L'Estampe from Mirandol
A shaded hike through the beech and pine forests of the Goulet mountain. You will follow part of the GR®70, the famous Stevenson Trail, named after the journey made through the Cévennes in 1878 by Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, accompanied by a donkey.
Moure and the Gardille Forest
A long route on good paths, allowing you to maintain a good walking pace, all at an altitude of over 1,100 metres.
A long, steady climb leads to the Moure de la Gardille: a superb view!
You then descend to the source of the Allier, before setting off on a long trek through the forest. It’s cool, perhaps a little monotonous (few viewpoints), but the winding route means you need to stay alert. The app is highly recommended.
You then walk along the Allier to reach Chabalier.
The final stretch is fairly easy, but it gets hot on the narrow roads and well-maintained paths.
Chasseradès - Le Bleymard
Seventh stage of a complete journey on the Chemin de Stevenson between Le Puy-en-Velay and Alès. This stage may include significant changes to the GR®70 signposting, and represents the end of the section corresponding to the crossing of the Gévaudan.
