Description of the walk

Easy access from Cayres via the D33. Parking available along the road, or in the hamlets of Trèspeux or Sansac.
Note: you can start the walk from Sansac, at the lowest point.

(S/E) Head due north on theGR®40, marked in white and red; this is also the Chemin de l’Estrade. Follow the edge of the Lac du Bouchet State Forest. You’ll reach the D333.

(1) Cross the road and continue along an almost straight path until you reach a crossroads just before entering the forest.

(2) Leave theGR® here and turn left to reach the hamlet of La Glutonie shortly afterwards.

(3) Turn left onto the path across the fields on the Sous le Devès plateau to emerge at the hamlet of Rossignol.

(4) Turn right onto the D333 for about a hundred metres, then turn left onto the track. Follow this track across the fields to reach the village of Sansac. Continue to the crossroads by the wash house.

(5) Turn right and continue uphill, still on the track leading through the fields, to reach the hamlet of Trespeux.

(6) Finish the climb by taking the path on the right and join the D33. Follow it to the left with care to return to the car park (S/E).

It’s a very pleasant walk, with magnificent scenery, especially in the low-angled February sunshine.
Best avoided in summer for those who dislike the heat, as there is no protective vegetation along the route.
