Description of the walk

Parking is available in the car park in the centre of the village, Place du Foirail.

(S/E) From the crossroads in front of the bistro, take Rue de Mirabel on the right.
Follow theGR®43(red and white markings) then head up the first street on the right (Rue du 19 mars 1962) towards the cemetery. Continue along this road, following the markings.

(1) When you reach the hamlet of Coulagnes Basses, cross the bridge and turn right (still following theGR® markings). Walk through the village of Vitrolles following the GR®.

(2) On leaving the village, after the climb at a bend leading off to the left, continue to the right behind a farm shed on your right. After 250m, you’ll reach a Fork in the road.

(3) Leave theGR®43on your left and continue south-east for 2 km. After a bend to the left and then to the right, the path heads south-east again and leads to a crossroads.

(4) Take the path that winds down to the right, heading west (you’ll see the red and white markings again).

(5) At the next junction, leave the path on the right and continue for 1 km along the main path (GR® markings). This leads to a large crossroads.

(6) Take the path on the left, cross La Colagne and continue along the same marked path.

(7) Before the hamlet of Le Mouilhet, turn right (GR® markings), leaving the small stony path on your left. When you reach another junction, turn left, keeping the houses on your right. 500m further on, keeping to the right, theGR® meets the D1.

(8) Continue along theGR®43path to the right. You will reach a place called Le Vialaret; continue along the road opposite for a few metres.

(9) Leave the road and take the path on the right (GR® signposted). Pass the Rieutort community hall and continue along the road to the right. Pass between the houses to reach the tourist office car park (S/E).

A magnificent hike surrounded by nature! Particularly noteworthy at this time of year with the autumn colours.
A pleasant family outing, with children who are used to walking... A bit of a climb for them!
