The Cabezo de la Sal is a rather special peak, dome-shaped and approximately 4 kilometres in diameter, containing a vast salt deposit which is still being mined. The route suggested here takes you to the summit, but also past various salt works and pipelines that carry the salt away for processing. You’ll also come across a gigantic cave.

There are usually two doors, one for putting snow in and the other for taking ice out. They are, of course, located at high altitude. The snow industry, which can be traced back to 1630, was very prosperous until the advent of refrigerators in the 1960s.
