Dauendorf walks

From Uberach to the charming village of Mietesheim, through the undivided forest of Haguenau and along the Neubourg camp, this route will take you through majestic oak and beech trees and highlight the forest's military past and present.

If you’re not very familiar with this area, now’s the time to discover it. This fairly easy walk takes you along the Londgraben from Morschwiller Chapel to Ohlungen Chapel in almost a straight line. The return route, which involves a slight climb, will take you past the two beautiful chapels in Dauendorf. Along the way, depending on the time of day, you should see plenty of roe deer; if you’re an early riser, you might even spot Goupil the fox.

This round trip through the fields will take you past the Roman bridge at Huttendorf and the Chapel of the Black Cross in Dauendorf.

Walk on Grassendorf Hill through fields and vineyards. This is an easy walk with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The route should be avoided in very wet weather due to the clay soil.

This pleasant hike offers a mosaic of landscapes and some of the most photogenic views in the area. Along the route, you will come across an old vineyard shelter. At Geiersberg, a Napoleonic bench made of Vosges sandstone allows you to enjoy the panorama at an altitude of 261 m: the Haguenau Forest and the Outre-Forêt are part of the scenery. From the heights of Morschwiller, you can look out over the Alsace plain, with views stretching from the Northern Vosges to the Black Forest.

On this urban and forest trail, starting from Schweighouse-sur-Moder, you will walk through the pine forests of the south-west of the undivided forest and cross the course of two rivers, the Zinsel du Nord and the Moder, several times.

An easy hike through the Hanau region, taking in rolling countryside and orchards. Pretty farms and half-timbered houses in Ringendorf, Buswiller and Issenhausen.

Historical heritage meets natural heritage on this route to the north-west of the undivided forest, which will take you through pine forests and deciduous woodlands, across fields and through the charming village of Eschbach, which runs along the edge of the forest.

Follow the Sandhaas through the town, fields and forest in the heart of the Moder Valley, between Haguenau and Schweighouse-sur-Moder. Sandhaas – sand hare – is the nickname given to the inhabitants of Haguenau when Alsace was under the authority of the German Empire, due to the large number of hares in this part of the region with its very sandy soil.

Head to Walbourg and the start of the GR®532 from the centre of Haguenau and set off to explore the heritage of the undivided forest along this trail, which is part of the Way of St James.

Here is a route starting from the football stadium in Schwindratzheim, continuing to the Waltenheim bridge before following the Marne-Rhine Canal back to the Schwindratzheim bridge once more.

In addition to the beautiful landscapes seen from the vast clearings in the forest or when crossing the Sauer plain, this route offers views of beautiful wash houses in Oberdorf-Spachbach and Gunstett, as well as fine examples of traditional Alsatian architecture.

A pleasant walk offering a chance to discover the landscapes around Morsbronn-les-Bains, as well as Forstheim and Eberbach. It’s an opportunity to see fields, pastures and orchards alike.

Circular in the forest on the heights of Oberbronn and Zinswiller. Passing through Immenkopf, Ungerthal, Grunschaft, Michelskopf and Linsenthal Pond from the Sonnenberg area.

A pleasant walk that mainly follows wide forest tracks. The paths present no major difficulty, apart from the access to the Windstein ruins. You will pass, in particular, the magnificent ruins of the Jaegerthal Forge, the birthplace of the De Dietrich factory, which was founded on 5 April 1685.

A route to discover the battlefield of Woerth-Froeschwiller from 6-8 August 1870, punctuated by monuments erected in memory of the combatants, but also by viewpoints. It crosses fields, orchards and forests, as well as Froeschwiller, Elsasshaussen and Woerth.

Hike in the forest of Niederbronn-les-Bains to discover Wasenbourg Castle and then the Col de l'Ungerthal.

A lovely forest walk in the hills above Niederbronn-les-Bains, taking in the Reisberg hill, the archaeological and historical sites of Wasenbourg, the Charles Mathis discovery trail, and continuing along theGR® 53 to the ruined castle of Grand Arnsbourg. The return route takes you over the Schlangenthal Pass, alongside the Falkensteinbach stream and past the Notre-Dame du Wasenberg Chapel.

A very beautiful, challenging hike that takes us from the Source du Lichteneck to the ruins of Wasenbourg Castle and on to the Grand Wintersberg, passing through the hamlet of Breitenwasen. The climb up to Wintersberg is steep and requires good stamina. Walking poles will prove particularly useful here. For the more motivated, this route is perfect for a trail running training session as it combines ascents, descents and technical sections.

Circular hike starting from the Celtic spring with ascent of the Grand Wintersberg, 581 m, the highest point in the Northern Vosges, and return via the Col de la Liese chalet (belonging to the Club Vosgien) and the Heidenkopf shelter.

This is a large circular hike starting from Jaegerthal, the birthplace of the De Dietrich family, with its castle, park and the remains of the first forge near the car park. It is a long but peaceful hike, with a succession of small "bumps" and dotted with numerous fortified castles and remarkable rocks. The first part follows the "Sentier de la Ligne Maginot" (Maginot Line Trail) with a succession of bunkers in a surprisingly good state of preservation.

A pleasant, easy walk, mainly along wide forest paths, offering the chance to discover the Jaegerthal Forges, the castles of Nouveau and Vieux Windstein, and a few blockhouses.

A charming circular walk in the heart of the Basse-Zorn valley, a stone’s throw from Hoerdt, the famous Alsatian capital of asparagus. This peaceful walk takes you through a bucolic and romantic setting, following the water’s course along shaded paths and country lanes. Passing through three typically Alsatian villages with authentic heritage, the route offers a blend of tranquillity and discovery, with no major difficulty thanks to its gentle gradient. The route takes in Bietlenheim, Geudertheim and Weyersheim, following the peaceful banks of the Zorn. Throughout the walk, you’ll discover Catholic and Protestant churches, old bathing spots, historic mills, wash houses and the picturesque atmosphere of these villages. A getaway combining nature and heritage.

A pleasant hike on the southern flank of the Hochwald, leading from the Lampertsloch Forest House to the Col du Wiep, then to the Soultzerkopf Refuge. Near the refuge, an orientation table allows you to enjoy the landscape towards the plain. This route is ideal for getting back to nature and finding peace and quiet.

Ramstein Castle dates back to the 13th century. It stands on a rocky sandstone outcrop. At the summit, there is a panoramic view of Baerenthal and its valley. The two lakes, Ramstein and Baerenthal, are full of charm and make an ideal spot for a refreshing break.
