Car park near the cemetery.
(S/E) Opposite the calvary located 100m north of the Étion cemetery, take the path on the right, then at the corner of a pasture, turn right again. Descend to the Étang Garot stream, cross it and follow the path along the stream to the left. When you see the housing estate, turn right to join the D989 at the Auberge du Premier Chaîneau.
(1) Move slightly to the right and , after crossing the 989, turn onto Rue de la Havetière. Please note that this is not the road that leads to the Havetière housing estate. The road is lined on the left with a few hornbeam hedges that border the gardens. Walk along the tarmac road to the water tower.
(2) Turn left onto a forest road until you reach a sharp left-hand bend.
(3) Turn right onto a small path that descends to the confluence of two small streams. Cross the main stream and head left to immediately take a path that climbs to the right and joins a wide forest road, the one you left earlier.
(4) Head right onto the forest road. At the top of the climb, the forest road gives way to a path that changes direction and descends slightly. Ignore the first path on the right. At the next junction, climb left and turn right at the fork that follows until you reach another junction (note that the path on the left is not shown on the map).
(5) The route heads east, passes under a power line and then joins several high-voltage lines and a crossroads. View towards the south-east over part of the Charleville Mézières conurbation.
(6) Take the first path on the left. Walk alongside a ditch that marks the edge of the national forest, enjoying the view of Nouzonville. Pass under the power line you crossed earlier and follow it through the forest for about a hundred metres. Then take the first path on the left.
N.B. The path that continues along the power line is not shown on the map.
(7) Turn left and walk along the path to the start of a small valley.
(8) Turn left to join a forest road, staying on the same path. Turn right onto the forest road, cross a small valley and shortly afterwards leave the forest road to rejoin the old path on the left. Reach the RD989 at Deuxième Chaineau.
(9) Cross the RD (caution: dangerous crossing) , follow it to the left for 50 metres, then take a large path on the right that leads back to the starting point (S/E).
Work completed and, above all, well monitored by GPS as we sometimes take small paths.
