Description of the walk

Park near the Tourist Office, Place Ducale.

(Start/End) From Place Ducale, follow Rue du Moulin towards the Meuse. Cross the quay and take the footbridge over the Meuse and the Île du Vieux Moulin.

(1) At the end of the footbridge, follow the path to the right to the Pont de Montcy. Continue straight ahead on the same left-hand pavement to the pedestrian crossing at the start of the Montcy hill. Take the path running along the banks of the Meuse, then the canal.

(2) Cross the canal bridge and follow the canal again, on the opposite bank. Pass under the railway bridge (narrow path).

(3) Continue along the Voie Verte and follow the Bois en Val nature reserve. Follow the canal to the bridge, passing under the railway line.

(4) Cross the bridge, then turn left to follow the Meuse again via the Voie Verte.

(5) Head up the esplanade on the right, which leads to Place de l’Hôtel de Ville. Take the steps leading to Place du Château.
(6) Head to Place de la Basilique Notre-Dame d'Espérance and walk around it. Cross Rue du Quai du Roy and take Promenade des Remparts, following the canal. When you reach the former Clément Bayard factories, turn right onto Rue Louis Tirman. Cross Square Bayard and head towards Avenue Général Teissier.

(7) Take the Blue Footbridge, Passerelle Bayard, and continue along Rue d’Alsace, then Avenue d’Arches. Walk up Avenue d’Arches towards the city centre and the statue of Charles de Gonzague.

(8) Continue straight ahead along the pedestrian street to reach Place Ducale (S/E).
