Dabo walks

Set off to discover the sights around the Rock of Dabo, a historic site dating back to Celtic, Roman and medieval times. This hike around the Ballerstein massif offers a concentration of the most beautiful sights: remarkable rocks and sandstone cliffs, views of coniferous forests and the surrounding villages, and bucolic trails rich in history and legends. You will enter the kingdom of Baldur, the Celtic god of light.

Set off to discover the sights around the Rocher de Dabo, a historic site dating back to Celtic, Roman and medieval times. The Rock of Dabo is a must-see site in the commune. From its height of 664 metres, it offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Hautes Vosges Gréseuses, stretching from the Alsace plain to the east, the Vosges mountains to the south and the Lorraine plateau to the north-east.

Starting from an old mill in the hollow of a valley, set off to discover the magnificent Dabo Rock. As you hike, you will see it from different angles. You will be charmed by the magnificent landscapes and local heritage.

A very pretty undulating loop trail with various options for the return.Paths in the undergrowth run alongside or through beautiful, imposing pink sandstone rocks: Schoenfels, Pfannenfels, Kelchfels, Marguerite, Grotte des Francs Tireurs and, optionally, Neubaufels and Seebfels.

Nice walk into the woodlands with a viewpoint over the Rocher du Hohwalsch. The viewpoint at the rocher du Hohwalschplatz gives you a nice view of the surroundings, even until the lake of Gondrexange.

A beautiful walk on the slopes of the Zorn Valley, where you will discover breathtaking landscapes, the ruins of Greifenstein Castle, the Saint-Vit cave and the Gallo-Roman site of Wasserwald. Actual elevation gain: 534 m.

This shaded trail takes you to two castles, bucolic spots, steep-sided, musical valleys and a surprising cave. Here you will find peace and quiet, coolness, the birdsong of nature and pure air. 15/05/2024: Route modified to avoid private property.

The trails are very well marked and maintained by the Club Vosgien.The elevation gain is significant, so take this into account to fully appreciate all the charms of this hike.

What's more, the many picnic spots make this hike even more enjoyable.

Le Nideck is well known and quite popular. This circuit takes you past several points of interest and has a few pleasant surprises in store. It has the advantage of passing through some uncrowded areas and along a slightly exposed path with beautiful views. The hike does not include the bottom of the waterfall, which can however be easily reached by adding a 50m climb.
