start and finish at Lochmuehl: at the Schaeferhof exit, head towards Dabo and turn left towards Kuhberg. Park along the small road to Lochmuehl.
Another possible departure point: Dabo campsite.
(S/E) Leave the house (former mill) on your left and take the marked path (Club Vosgien) with the yellow cross. It crosses a forest road twice (be careful, it does not always continue straight ahead). Continue along this path uphill to a crossroads, turn left and climb up to the Sickertkopf (magnificent view of the village of Dabo and its rock, well worth the detour).
(1) Retrace your steps to the previous junction and continue along the Croix Jaune trail. After 1 km, you will reach a forest road on your left, the Fontaine Adactem.
(2) Continue along this road until you reach the junction with a tarmac road coming from Rothenbuhl (hamlet of Dabo). Continue straight ahead on the path, still marked with yellow crosses.
After 800 m, you will reach another tarmac road.
(3) Take it on the right for a few metres (red rectangle signposting), cross the D45 and join the Rocher campsite. (The start and finish can also be reached from this point, which is easily accessible via the D45). Continue for a few metres.
(4) Take the path on the right (yellow triangle) signposted Rocher du Dabo. Follow this path to Rocher du Dabo, where a visit to the lookout point is a must.
(5) After your visit, retrace your steps.
(6) At the bottom of the footbridge, take the path on the right across the meadow for 50 m and join the tarmac road. Take it on the right to reach the hamlet of Heid. Follow the signs to the centre of the village.
(7). After the cemetery, turn right and then at the church opposite.
(8) Turn left onto Rue des Jardins and continue straight ahead, following the yellow triangle signs, which will take you to the hamlet of Petit Ballerstein.
(9) At this point, you can shorten your route by 4 km by continuing along the yellow triangle trail.
However, a 4 km loop will allow you to discover some wonderful landscapes and an ancient castle ruin.
(9) At the entrance to the hamlet of Petit Ballerstein, take the paved road on the left for 50 m, then follow the path on the right marked with a blue ring (also called the Baldur circuit).
Continue to the Rocher des Corbeaux.
(10) Stay on this path to reach the paved road, then cross the Grand Ballerstein.
(11) In the centre of the hamlet, take the path on the left, still marked Anneau Bleu. Continue to Heidenschlossfels and climb up to the Heidenschloss ruins.
(12) Return to the trail and follow it. Take this trail around the Geisterfelsen.
(13) At the end of the trail at the entrance to the hamlet of Petit Ballerstein, rejoin the Yellow Triangle trail that you left a short while ago.
(14) Descend this path on the left until you reach a forest road. Take it to the left for 100 m, then rejoin the yellow triangle trail on the right. Cross the D45 and take the path opposite to return to the starting point at Lochmuehl (S/E)
