Departure from Place de la Mairie (car park), perpendicular to Route du Chef-lieu and located between the church and the post office.
Directional signs at major intersections + a few signposts with yellow arrows
(S/E) From the car park, take Route du Chef-lieu to the right, i.e. away from the church. At a fork, take the left-hand road towards the cheese dairy. Go downhill, ignore a turn-off on the left, leave the cheese dairy on your left and note an oratory on your right before reaching a crossroads.
(1) Then turn right onto Route de Théry towards Les Clouz and follow theGR® Balcon du Léman (red and white markings). Ignore a road on the right. At Les Clouz, make a left-right zigzag to take Chemin des Bandés and cross a residential area.
(2) At the three-way junction, turn left towards Les Granges. At the next three-way junction, turn right and pass under a medium-voltage power line. The tarmac gives way to a shady, stony path. At the corner of a cross dating from 1986, ignore a path on the right (not shown on the IGN map) and you will soon reach a crossroads at Les Granges.
(3) Turn right towards the Chapelle de Champeillant (let theGR® continue straight ahead). Descend gently into a wood and, at the first houses of Sur les Crêts, rejoin the tarmac road.
(4) At the T-junction, follow the small road on the right that climbs towards the Chapelle de Champeillant. Gradually, the chapel and the view of Lake Geneva come into view on the left. After a left-hand bend, you will reach a three-way junction with a signpost.
(5) Turn left towards the chapel and pass the nearby orientation table, then return to the three-way junction.
(5) Returning from the chapel or the orientation table, take the small road on the left (east-northeast), the only one for which the signpost does not indicate any direction. Note the peaks of the Mémises-Oche massif opposite. Ignore the Route de Nattay on the right, then a road on the left, and continue due east.
(6) At the T-junction, follow the D21 road to the right (be careful, this is the only busy section of road). At the crossroads after about 100 metres, turn left. After about 150 metres, leave the D21 and take a small road on the left towards the observatory. At the foot of the observatory (information sign), turn right towards the Bois de Maravant.
(7) At the next junction, turn left uphill. At the next junction, take a path on the right and go around a telecommunications pylon on the left. Continue slightly uphill and you will immediately reach the Perron oratory.
(8) Retrace your steps.
(7) At the crossroads, turn left and follow the small tarmac road eastwards. At the next crossroads, turn right onto Route de Chomieux. At the T-junction, turn left. Walk alongside the farm buildings on your left, then on your right. At the corner of the last building, turn right onto Chemin de l'École. At the crossroads, first turn right then left to return to Place de la Mairie (S/E).
