Parking is available in the car park at the foot of the church in Saint-Paul-en-Chablais, on the left-hand side of the D21 road, just after the two signs "Sortie de Poëse" / "Entrée dans Saint-Paul-en-Chablais" when coming from Carrefour de l'x.
Most of the hike is unmarked, but there are occasional signposts (directions, travel times) or marker posts with yellow arrows.
Unmarked
(S) Cross Route D21 (take care) diagonally to the right and take Route de la Chaumière, which climbs towards Chez les Laurents/Pré Bandaz (signs). Ignore the dead ends on the left.
Blue + yellowmarkings in places
(1) Turn left onto Route du Camping towards La Lanche (sign). Turn left onto Chemin de la Lanche. After passing a few houses, the small road becomes a path between meadows lined with hedges. Walk south at first, then, after a bend to the left, head due east. You will reach a crossroads with a road (cross). Cross the road and continue straight ahead on a small road bordered by a stream. When you reach the first houses, the road turns right. You will come to a wayside shrine.
No markings
(2) Ignore the arrow pointing to the left and continue for a few metres until you reach a perpendicular road. Take this road to the right and, after only a few metres, turn left onto a path that starts at the foot of an electricity pole. Facing south, this path starts between meadows and gradually becomes lined with trees. Ignore a path on the right leading to a meadow and enter the forest. At a T-junction, follow the blue markings again and turn right. At the fork immediately after, take the left-hand path.
(3) At the next fork, the blue-marked trail branches off to the right (south, signpost) and enters the forest. Do not follow this direction, but follow a mountain bike sign and continue straight ahead (south-east) on the widest path. Walk along a cleared forest plot on your left and climb up to a T-junction with a long meadow on your left (signpost).
(4) Continue straight ahead (south) without a clearly marked path, keeping to the edge of the meadow on your left and the woods on your right. You will soon find a path (signpost). Continue straight ahead (south-west) along this path. After a few metres, at a crossroads near a tree marked with the plot number 6 painted in red on a white background, take a barely marked path on the left. Walk south-east through a beech and fir forest to reach a crossroads, with the meadow seen earlier on your left and houses on your right.
(5) Take the small road on the right that passes in front of the gate of a house at no. 412. Follow this road slightly downhill to the Chez Bochet oratory.
(6) At the oratory, ignore the road that descends to the left and turn right towards Saint-Paul (sign). Follow the small road between the meadows (unobstructed views), ignoring a road on the left. At a fork in the road at a place called Vers la Grange, ignore the road on the left and the path on the right, and take Rue des Bassins (signposted) almost opposite. The road (with little traffic) starts off flat with an unobstructed view of the Jura Mountains on the left, then descends.
(7) At the bottom of the descent, turn left onto Route des Quatre Vents (signposted). At the bottom of this road, turn right onto a path (mountain bike sign). Ignore a path on the right and descend gently towards some houses. When you reach the houses, turn right to pass between the house with a wooden wall (on your left) and the house with pink plaster (on your right). You will come out onto a small road. Make a left-right zigzag to enter Impasse de la Foulie (signposted; do not go to the roundabout on the left). At the end of the tarmac section, take a path on the right that runs alongside the safety barrier of the D21 road on your left. After a few metres, when the barrier ends, cross the road diagonally to the right (take care, as the road is busy) and turn left onto Chemin de la Chavanne (signposted).
(8) At the three-way junction that follows, turn right towards Larringes (sign). A few metres later, turn left onto a path that quickly becomes a narrow trail on the edge of a meadow on your left and a wood on your right. Continue along this path for about 500 metres. At a crossroads, after veering slightly to the right, turn right. At the fork immediately after, turn right. You will soon come out onto a meadow and continue for a few metres along the edge of the meadow (on your left) and the woods (on your right).
(9) At the end of the meadow, turn right onto the path. After passing a solitary oak tree marked with a yellow marker, take the first path on the left (the yellow arrow on the marker post indicates to continue straight ahead, but ignore it). Descend to Chez Burquier (fountain, granite cross).
(10) Turn right towards Saint-Paul (sign). At the next crossroads, cross Chemin du Stream (sign) and continue east to the D21 road. Make a first turn right then left to cross this road (take care) and follow Route de la Chaumière (sign for "Saint-Paul"). At the next crossroads, turn left and head towards La Cheneau.
(1) Continue along Route de la Chaumière, ignoring the yellow arrow on a post that indicates turning left at the first fork. Descend to the crossroads located at the starting point (S/E).
