Courson-les-Carrières walks

Waymarked route N°48. A beautiful woodland walk on this limestone plateau, even if at the start you need to take a little road to reach the Bois de la Faine and beyond. The forest we pass through is rich in species of wood and specimens of oak and beech, and is no match for the nearby Forêt de Frétoy.

Marked route No. 49. The name of the village of Merry-Sec is certainly misleading! Admittedly, there is little water on the surface, but there are so many springs and wash houses along this route.

Marked route No. 56. The Hauts-de-Forterre plateau offers some stunning views and a charming heritage, highlighted by the orientation table and the route of old trade signs dotted around the village.

Marked route No. 97.From hills to valleys, the views alternate between cherry orchards, vineyards and the plateaus of the Yonne. Spring and autumn offer beautiful shades of colour.

Marked path n°32 Alternating ups and downs among the orchards, vineyards and crops. Beautiful views over the valley and the hillsides of Yonne.

The springs and washhouses without forgetting the Château and the Chapel of Chéry will be the most important heritage sites to discover for this outing. Throughout this route, alternation between valleys and hills where points of view are numerous.

Marked route No. 13. Starting from the village surrounded by hills, the walk inevitably gains altitude. The River Ouanne at the bottom of the valley is soon left behind in favour of historical remains: a chapel, old mills and wash houses.

Marked hike N°51. From the old medieval castle, discover a village built between an old, partly dried-up marsh and a cliff. Druyes Valley offers a green setting that contrasts with the chalky rocks that support the ruined building.

Medieval castle, viaduct, springs, washhouses and heritage, something to enjoy with the family ! If that's not enough, a little bungee jump to get the adrenaline pumping ? Druyes-les-Belles-Fontaines is classified in the villages "Cities of character of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté".

Marked route No. 92.The first section winds its way through cherry orchards and vineyards with some beautiful views, followed by a second section through woodland.

Marked hike n°62. This site located in the void diagonal, as some like to say, conceals many assets. If, with the help of agricultural machinery, the search for productivity was the goal in the middle of the 20th century, it has not led to the expected results. Today, it is towards a restoration of biodiversity that we are moving. The fauna and flora are gradually returning. Discovering this heritage also helps to educate children. Superb educational walk!

Marked route No. 57. A village at the bottom of the valley, as if lost, almost overlooked… you know the story? Well, now head up to see what’s up there on the plateau!

Starting from the Mailly-le-Château viewpoint, this is a short, easy walk – a peaceful and straightforward route through the woods and along the canal. .

Walk along the banks of the Yonne and the canal. Beautiful views of Lucy-sur-Yonne and the castle from the film La Grande Vadrouille.

This hike allows you to observe a rich variety of flora and fauna, with numerous wild flowers and many birds in the Druyes Marsh Observatory, as well as beautiful landscapes in the forest.

Route closed by municipal order of 9 July 2021. A short family walk featuring a few pieces of play equipment along the leisure trail. A really enjoyable outing for everyone.

Marked trail No. 54. This walk is a real surprise! Set off from the village church, then head to a hamlet to find the town hall, before wandering through the rugged, limestone terrain of La Forterre to discover isolated hamlets and farms. On the way back, enjoy a lovely view from the plateau over the woods and landscapes of the Poyau region.

Marked walk No. 58. This circular route takes you along old tracks to discover the different aspects of the Forterre, a land of arable farming dotted with woods.

Marked walk No. 59. Route from Lain around Test-Milon, including a section along the Roman road.

Marked route No. 46. Along the banks of the Puisaye, this walk takes place largely on the hills of Forterre. The fields and horizons are vast, whilst the woods provide welcome shade. The Chastenay discovery garden adds a touch of nature.

This hike offers a main course and dessert of varied landscapes and views. The price you pay will depend on your physical abilities!

Route closed by municipal order dated 9 July 2026. Marked walk No. 12.A route themed around recreational sport, following a section of an old railway line and a section of an ancient Roman road, with some wonderful heritage sites to discover.

Marked route No. 11. This route takes you to the small village of Druyes-les-Belles-Fontaines, passing through wooded areas and farmland. The return journey follows an old railway line. Between Les Roches and Pesselière, you can admire the cedars of La Lavière, and in Pesselières, the Sully tree as well as the ruins of the old castle.

Set amidst unspoilt countryside, this walk, in a stunning setting flanked by the Yonne and the Canal du Nivernais, offers breathtaking views of the famous Rochers du Saussois, a mecca for rock climbing, with and flora. The route around this bend in the Yonne is full of remarkable views.

Discover the charm of the Yonne valley with this circular route that’s accessible to everyone. Starting from the Bazarnes playground (an ideal spot for a picnic or for the children on the way back), this flat, shaded route takes you right up close to the water. You’ll first follow the unspoilt banks of the Yonne, before reaching the tranquillity of the Canal du Nivernais and its towpath. An ideal route for families to spot aquatic wildlife, watch boats passing through the locks and enjoy a moment of peace and quiet in the heart of nature.

Marked trail No. 43. A historical journey back to the time of Charlemagne's succession. His grandsons fought over the kingdom. This division was settled by a battle and... discover the places and history of this epic story.

In days gone by, this path was used by the children of Sablon to walk to the local school in Levis. You can also explore part of the battlefield at the site of the Battle of Fontenoy.

Marked trail No. 10. Discover the local heritage: ponds and old drinking troughs, crosses and calvaries, the Sully lime tree, and the cedars of La Lavière. Beautiful views of varied, rolling countryside punctuate this route, the length of which can be adapted to suit. Although classified as a walking route, this route is also one of the most beautiful routes for mountain biking, hybrid cycling and horse riding.

Explore the hamlets on the outskirts of the village of Sougères-en-Puisaye.

The Three Bell Towers walk passes through the wine-growing villages of Escolives-Sainte-Camille, Jussy and Coulanges-la-Vineuse, taking in their most beautiful scenery. Discover the vineyards and cherry trees whilst looking up at the church bell tower as you pass through each village.

Marked route No. 114.Discover the remains of open-air ochre pits and mines, the Sauilly ochre factory and its drying kiln.

This hike offers beautiful views of the Yonne valley and a bucolic stroll through vineyards, cherry orchards and along the banks of the Yonne. It will give you a breath of fresh air and allow you to get to know the unusual village of Bailly.

A very pleasant walk: from the top of the hills, the view is superb, provided the sky is clear. The first part is winding and hilly until Cravant, but the return journey is on a flat, tarmac path along the Canal du Nivernais and the Yonne.

Starting from the main car park at the foot of the town hall, discover the village wash house. After crossing the Ouanne, a country walk begins along narrow roads leading to local hamlets and fairly well-shaded paths.

A very pleasant walk in all seasons across the plain and through the woods, climbing to the region’s highest point (363 m). Along the ancient Roman road, discover the old underground limestone quarries, which were used to build the region’s houses and bridges. Magnificent panoramic views stretch out on either side of this road, which once linked Auxerre to Nevers, with Entrains-sur-Nohain as its main junction.

Marked trail No. 29. A pleasant walk or mountain bike ride in all weathers. This route has been surveyed and marked out by members of the local association À Travers Champs. It is fully signposted with yellow signs, black lettering and yellow arrows on a red background.

Marked route No. 88.Located on a hill, Pourrain offers many sporting activities, including this route which takes you through a very hilly area between woods and fields, valleys and plateaus dotted with springs. Beautiful views of the Puisaye, Forterre and Auxerrois regions enhance this outing.

A getaway combining nature, heritage and a passion for wine, ideal for the curious and wine lovers alike! The hike starts from the estate car park, so you can enjoy a well-deserved tasting on your return.

Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, the only wine-growing village in Burgundy to produce Sauvignon, also boasts a remarkable heritage. Let yourself be charmed by the labyrinthine cellars and the Church of Saint-Prix-Saint-Cot after walking through the vineyards. Along the way, don’t miss the exceptional view from the orientation table in the ‘Douzein’ woods. 

A magnificent hike around a Burgundy wine-growing village in the south of Auxerre: Saint-Bris-le-Vineux. A 10.8 km circular route will take you past eight fountains among the vineyards. In the village, you can admire the 13th-century church and its Jesse tree, the 17th-century château and its Renaissance gate, as well as some beautiful vaulted cellars.
