Cuissy

The starting point is located in the car park at Place Jean Goutte Toquet in Ouanne.

(S/E) Walk up Rue de la Fontaine to reach Rue de Toucy (D950). Turn left and keep to the left-hand side of the road. Stay alert along this road.

(1) Leave the road at the cemetery, turning left. Pass the sewage treatment plant on your right. Cross the Ouanne. Continue, ignoring the paths on your left.

(2) Take the path running alongside the pumping station (EDF transformer on your right) via a slight left-right bend. Pass the hamlet of Les Granges on your left. Cross the bridge over the Ouanne and rejoin the D950.

(3) Cross this road with care, then head up the gravelled path opposite, ignoring the path on the left. At the junction with a cross-path, turn left.

(4) Turn right towards an old ruined mill (locally known as the Maison du Pendu). Continue across this plateau, taking the next path on the right.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right and shortly afterwards, go downhill and leave a path on your right to cross a stream. A further climb along a wide, well-maintained path leads to Cuissy.

(6) Carry straight on, crossing Rue des Berluchons. At the top, turn left onto Rue du Bois. When you reach the edge of the woodland (livestock buildings on the left), turn right.

(7) Cross the road and take the straight path opposite which crosses the Plateau des Usages. Where it meets the road, take the right-hand side and, on the descent, after an old tip, reach a path on the right.

(8) Follow this path uphill; the gradient is quite steep at first but becomes gentler further on. After a left-hand bend, continue until you reach a cross on the right.

(9) Head down to the left along the road and reach the first houses on Rue des Sabots. Turn right onto Rue du Chemin de Ronde, cross Rue de l’Église, and continue down the slope until you reach Rue de Toucy. Cross it carefully to reach the car park (S/E).

This walk is largely exposed to the elements. The ideal seasons are certainly spring and autumn.
Take care when passing along Rue de Toucy (D950) on the way there and back.
Be vigilant on small roads that may be closed or used.

This route, signposted in accordance with the signposting guidelines of the Puisaye-Forterre Community of Communes, is marked with the number 13 on yellow plaques. It was created by the association À chacun son chemin en Puisaye-Forterre in January 2022.
However, as the route is signposted, you must set off with at least this description and the accompanying IGN map or the Visorando app.
