Châtillon-sur-Seine walks

Far from busy roads, this is a small, hilly, shaded route full of running water, where it is not uncommon to see roe deer, does, birds of prey and herons. Discover hidden villages in northern Burgundy.

This circular walk takes us into the vineyard area of Les Riceys and Balnot-sur-Laignes. Leaving the vineyards behind, the return journey follows the course of the Laignes river and takes the route of the old "tacot" railway line which, from 1901, linked Les Riceys-Polisot to Cunfin.

Fairly simple walk, mainly on gravel paths. The third kilometre climbs reasonably, but it is in the forest in the shade. On the plateau the path undulates between the fields. After the Chapelle Sainte-Anne, you leave the plateau via a reasonably steep little asphalt road to reach Ravières again.

This circuit cleverly combines the three walks around Chateauvillain: the Castle Park (which includes the Deer Park), the Belle Balade and its original sculptures carved into the forest, and a visit to the town of Chateauvillain, notably the Fortifications Trail. A rich and varied walk with no difficulties.

This route has been redeveloped and made safer. It allows you to bypass the Douix river and walk through a pleasant boxwood forest before reaching the village of Darcey and then the cave. It is not listed on IGN maps, which is why I used the Visorando app to track my route and highlight it.

Bergères is a charming wine-growing commune in the Côte des Bar. This route offers picturesque landscapes of the Côte des Bar through valleys, hillsides, vineyards, fields, moors and forests. From April to June, magnificent orchids bloom on the calcareous soils of the Côte de l'Église and Côte Garnier. This route largely follows the Circuit de la Croix Bleue. It also follows the GR® de Pays des deux Bar and the GR® Gaston Bachelard.

Salives, a must-see medieval village in Côte d'Or: its ramparts, its keep, the heraldic route recounting the medieval life of the village, and its wash house with the main source of the Tille river under the church. This route also takes in Barjon Castle and Saint-Frodulphe Chapel. A little further on, there is a mill with a water wheel that is still in working order. Also worth seeing in Le Meix are the wash house beneath the town hall and the château.

The Chemins d'Auxois Association offers you its first circuit created using paths that have been reopened by the association. This beautiful walk has been designed to make the most of the footpaths, dirt tracks and white roads that will allow you to walk far away from cars. Hike starting from towns north-west of Is-sur-Tille. You will hike through forests and plains, passing through two towns with a rich heritage: Courlon Castle, an old mill, a foundry and beautiful buildings.

This forest route takes you to the Four à Pain refuge, the Puits du Bois, the Ormette spring, the Vignottes spring and retting pits, and the Champignolles wash house and retting pits. Route proposed by the Tille and Ignon Valleys Tourist Office. Official route registered with the Côte-d'Or PDIPR (public network of footpaths and trails). This trail leads around the Lac de Pont artificial reservoir. This dam was built in 1882 and brought up to standard at the end of 2018. Car park, camping, restaurant, beach and leisure facilities are all available. A footbridge and staircase provide access to the dam and the right bank path. Other modifications underway following the 2018 drought. This October 11, 2018: diving board and beach have been demolished and will be rebuilt. A floating footbridge is planned to serve the activity zones.

Between lake and forest, countryside and orchards, this route includes the Sentier du Lapin Blanc (White Rabbit Trail). Revealing a preserved village and its barns, crossing a wood, open countryside and green meadows, running along the beach and the dyke, this route sums up all the attractions of the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park.

A short, easy and very pleasant hike leading to the Butte Saint-Siméon in Saulx-le-Duc, the highest point offering a beautiful view of the Ignon valley. No technical difficulty, but the climb to the Butte Saint-Siméon is steady.

Le Creux Bleu is the resurgence (kastic massif) of the Francheville stream, which disappears a few kilometres upstream and is located 20 metres from the Ignon river in the centre of the village.

A short and easy hike to discover the valleys around Saussy, including the very wild Combe Quinquendolle, a nature reserve. This hike only uses public paths and forests!
