Ravières Circular

Fairly simple walk, mainly on gravel paths. The third kilometre climbs reasonably, but it is in the forest in the shade. On the plateau the path undulates between the fields. After the Chapelle Sainte-Anne, you leave the plateau via a reasonably steep little asphalt road to reach Ravières again.

Description of the walk

Start: You can park your car on the Place Edmé Dauphin in Ravières. It's close to the Canal de Bourgogne, which you cross when you enter the village coming from Ancy-le-Franc.

(S/E) Leave the car park and go to the right on the Promenade du Patis. Take the first road to the left, the Rue Neuve. The sign with the name of the road is a bit further up the road, on the building to the left. Take the first road to the right and you are on the Chemin de Pleinefaux.

(1) Follow the road by taking the tunnel under the railway track. Continue north following the path until you reach a path junction.

(2) Here you can make a shortcut by taking the path to the left. The route continues north, then bears northwest.

(3) At the next path junction (crossroads) is the possibility for another shortcut to the left. The route however continues straight on and then turns to the left.

(4) At the next path junction, follow the path on your left-hand side (straight ahead) to the ancient Chapelle Saint-Anne.

(5) Here you take the little asphalt road, La Rue Neuve, to join Ravières again. But first, you can take a rest at the remains of the chapel and enjoy the view.

(6) At the end of the road, turn right to join your car on the Place Edmé Dauphin (S/E).

Worth a visit

Le Canal de Bourgogne. Close to the bridge over the canal, you see the ancient communal lavoir of Ravières (dates back to 1828) that has been restored in recent years. With a little bit of fantasy, you see the women of Ravières do their laundry there (sorry, it was a woman's task in those days...).
