Berne (Canton de Berne) walks

If you’re spending a few hours in Bern, here’s an itinerary focusing on the historic old town, which overlooks a circular bend in the River Aare. You’ll discover the main landmarks of Switzerland’s capital. You’ll walk past the Federal Palace and admire the collegiate church and its gardens, which offer panoramic views of the city and the surrounding area. You’ll also witness the Zytglogge clock’s figurine show.

This stage will take you from Münsingen to Rüeggisberg. The route offers several panoramic views of famous peaks: the Mönch, the Eiger and the Jungfrau, as well as Lake Thun. You will enjoy the peaceful village of Rüeggisberg and admire the remains of its former monastery.

This stage will take you from Rüeggisberg to Guggisberg. After a descent through the mountain pastures, you will walk through the Schwarzwassergraben gorge. The climb to Schwarzenburg will offer you some last views of the Bernese Alps. Before descending to Guggisberg, you can enjoy a panoramic view from the top of the Guggershorn.

This stage will take you from Guggisberg to Schwarzsee. After a descent into the Laubbach valley, the route climbs again through beautiful forests. After skirting the rocky outcrop of Brönti Egg, you will enjoy a splendid view of the Stockhorn range as far as Gantrisch and Ochsen. At Zollhaus, you will enter the canton of Fribourg and follow the Warme Sense to Schwarzsee.

A short, easy loop with an ascent of the Guggershornli, which rises to 1,283 metres. There is a beautiful 360° view of the surrounding area from the top of the platform. Ideal for families, you will encounter peaceful cows. The end of the loop is on a paved road. The route is dotted with signs explaining the legend and love story of little Vreneli.

A beautiful area for spending the night in a van or camping serves as a car park. The hike starts through a free zoo, then you can cool off in the gorges before returning via the heights of the city. Tenth stage From Les Rousses to Lake Constance via the Jura ridges. From Frinvillier, the route begins with a beautiful climb through fields and old solitary trees to Sur le Chables, the last French-speaking stop in Switzerland. The landscape then changes: a clearing opens onto a dense forest lined with ferns, leading to Wäsmeli. After a paved section between Unterer Stierenberg and Grenchenberg, short climbs take you up to the Stallflue plateau. There, you are treated to a breathtaking panorama: the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the meandering Aare River, before arriving at Weissenstein.

For this third stage, after following the Aare, you will return to the shores of Lake Thun, passing the magnificent Schadau Castle. Climb up the Strättlig hill for panoramic views of the lake. Before descending to Spiez, cross the Kander Gorge via the Strättligsteg suspension bridge. You will arrive in Spiez via its vineyards and castle. This charming village lives peacefully around its marina.

Starting from Erlenbach and after a cable car ride to Chrindi, this tour will take you to the summit of the Stockhorn, at an altitude of 2,190 metres, passing two beautiful lakes on the way. Once at the top, you can admire both lakes at the same time.

Ninth stage from Les Rousses to Lake Constance via the Jura ridges. At the summit of Chasseral, you pass close to the imposing 114-metre transmitter, a metal sentinel standing at an altitude of 1,606 metres, the highest point of this stage. From there, the trail levels out and takes you on a peaceful descent along the ridge, winding between large century-old trees and the typical pastures of the Bernese Jura, where the air is fragrant with alpine herbs. At an altitude of around 1,000 metres, the landscape narrows: you reach the steepest part of the route, where rocks jut out and steps carved into the stone bear witness to the steeper terrain. The view then opens up onto the Bernese Jura mountain range, before the path gently descends towards the steep-sided Schüss valley. The steady descent takes you to the charming village of Frinvillier, nestled in the valley. Here you will cross the Suze bridge, the final passage of this stage rich in contrasts and panoramic views.

For thisfirst stage, you will walk along the pleasant Black Lake, then look down on it from the Hubel Rippa mountain pasture. The landscapes are varied, you will cross numerous mountain pastures and also the karst plain of Breccaschlund. The Euschels Pass will take you across pastures to the village of Jaun, the only German-speaking village in the district of Gruyère. In Jaun, don't miss the chance to cool off at the waterfall located 350 metres from the hotel.

This four-day itinerary follows the Alpenpanorama Weg trail (No. 3). You will start at a charming lake in German-speaking Switzerland and end up on the shores of Lake Geneva in French-speaking Switzerland. This route combines nature, culture and gastronomy and is sure to delight you. This mini trek can be summed up as follows: Schwarzsee and the mountain pastures to Jaun, the Jogne Gorge, the village of Gruyères with its medieval castle, the Moléson, Lake Geneva, Gruyères cheeses, and the Cailler and Nestlé chocolate factories.

Stage 11 From Les Rousses to Lake Constance via the Jura ridges. On this mainly downhill stage, you leave the green pastures of the Weissenstein and descend towards the Balmberg winter ski area before reaching Bättlerchuchi, a small panoramic plateau offering unobstructed views of the surrounding ridges. You then continue along an old mule track, probably used since Roman times, which leads you to the Schattenberg ridge. This historic passage immerses you in an almost timeless atmosphere. The descent continues along sometimes steep paths, winding through the Jura mountains to Balsthal, nestled on the banks of the Dünnern. This village is a strategic crossroads at the foot of three iconic passes in the Jura mountain range: the Upper Hauenstein, the Passwang and the Scheulte.

This second stage begins with a highlight: crossing the panoramic bridge at Sigriswil. At 340 metres long and suspended 180 metres above the Guntebach Gorge, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama. The route overlooks the lake for a long time before descending to the town of Thun. This town has many historic buildings. A visit to the historic centre is a must.

For this fourth stage, you will once again enjoy the lakeside on the Strandweg. The walk along the lake from Spiez to Faulensee is magnificent. The route then climbs from Kratttigen to Meielisalp. You will enjoy numerous views of the lake and have another opportunity to cross the 140-metre-long Leissigen bridge, suspended 60 metres above the Spissibach Gorge.

This first stage will take you from Spiez on the shores of Lake Thun to the small valley of Kiental.After following the lake’s shore as far as Faulensee, the climb up to Aeschi offers views of the pyramid-shaped Niesen, which towers over Spiez. You’ll also be impressed by the steep gradient of the funicular railway that climbs up to the Niesen. You’ll appreciate the tranquillity of the village of Kiental.

A magnificent route starting from Lake Thun in the canton of Bern and ending at the pretty spa resort of Leukerbad in Valais. You will cross the Lötsche Glacier and the Lötsche Pass (the highest point of the hike), which marks the border between the cantons of Bern and Valais. This route offers numerous views of the peaks of the Bernese Oberland and Valais.

A walk from the shores of Lake Gruyère up to the heights of Crozet and Solitou, offering magnificent views of the lake and its surroundings. The route crosses pastures, passes numerous alpine farms and wooded areas.
