Sigriswil - Thun via the Panorama Rundweg Thunersee

For ease of description, the following annotations are used:
R sign: Yellow sign with hiker pictogram.
Sign No. 26 or P26: Red/white multi-directional sign with green sticker No. 26.
The start of this hike is at the Hotel Adler in Sigriswil.

(S) From the Hotel Adler, return to the centre via Dorfstraße until you reach the Bären residence. Turn right onto Raftstraße, pass the church, the cemetery and the stadium until you reach the Panoramabrücke Sigriswil.

(1) Cross the Guntebach gorge via the suspension bridge. You will arrive at a fork marked with sign No. 26.

(2) Head west towards the hamlet of Aeschlen ob Gunten.

(3) Continue along the Erizbühlweg, keeping an eye out for signposts No. 26. Cross the Örtlibach at a hairpin bend. Look for another P26 sign at Erizbühl.

(4) Stay on this path, which crosses three more streams before reaching an intersection.

(5) Take the path on the left that descends slightly. At elevation 702, another sign No. 26 points north towards Rotebrünnell and Mülihalte. Look for another sign No. 26 at a crossroads.

(6) Begin a descent via several steps before crossing a stream. Climb up towards a huge rock at the foot of which you will find another signpost No. 26.

(7) Go around the rock to the north and then to the west. Climb a long staircase close to the rock face before leaving this rocky outcrop. Note the contrast between the steep rock faces and the green fields at the junction with the small road to Underi Allmend.

(8) Descend towards the lake until you reach the first junction. Turn right towards Balmweg. Follow the various signposts No. 26 and R towards Dünkelbode until you reach a junction with a P26 sign.

(9) Follow the instructions on signpost No. 26 at the following junctions and descend to Alte Schlüsserlacher.

(10) Make a hairpin turn to cross the Ouelibach.

(11) Follow the R sign by turning left. Descend to a junction with a P26 sign and end up above the houses in Breite.

(12) Come out onto Oberer-Breitenweg, leave it at the next intersection. Enter Hünibach via Hoheweg. Continue to the intersection with Kelliweg.

(13) Join Hünibachstraße, cross a stream and arrive at a roundabout.

(14) Head towards the lake via Chartreusestraße, then Ländtestraße. Approach the lake shore near a beach, refreshment bar and jetty, where boats can moor.

(15) Stay close to the lake, then follow the banks of the Aare until you reach the entrance to Thun. You will arrive at the first lock with a wooden bridge over it. At the end of Bälliz Island and the first footbridge over the Aare.

(16) Continue along the Aarequai, lined with numerous restaurants and bars, until you reach the lively Mühleplatz.

(17) Just after the Mill Square, turn right into the small alley to return to the upper main street (Obere Hauptgasse). Pass by the beautiful Town Hall Square (Rathausplatz) and continue along the lower main street (Untere Hauptgasse) to the Berntorplatz roundabout. Cross Grabenstraße to find the Hotel am Schloss, just before Bernstraße (E)
