Arbusigny walks
Circular Crêt du Merle starting from Boirond
A walk through the heart of the meadows, between parks and paths, with views of the Parmelan.
Very little walking on roads.
Keep your dog on a lead as there are cows and horses along the route.
Enjoy a lovely family walk, but watch out for muddy paths in wet weather.
From La Croisette to Grand Piton
A pleasant walk starting from La Croisette, with a loop route at the top of Salève, on a short section of the "Balcon du Léman". The Salève des Pitons (or Pitons) is not the most spectacular part of Mont Salève, but it nevertheless offers exceptional views (the Franco-Genevan basin, the Jura mountain range, the Geneva harbour/Petit-lac, the Vaud and Valais Alps, the Arve Valley, the Chablais, the Mont Blanc range, the Bornes, the Aravis, etc.).
On the Salève Plateau
This is a pleasant hike, with beautiful views of the Mont Blanc range in the first part.
From the cable car station, the Geneva basin spreads out below you.
La Croix des Bornes
Easy hike on the rural plateau of Les Bornes, with open views of the Salève, Aravis and Chablais mountains.
Directional signs and a few markers.
Tour of the Le Pesse woods
Short, easy walk with some interesting views.
Le Salève via the old funicular railway route
This hike takes you up to the Salève via a (steep) climb up the wooded slope, following the route of the old funicular railway to reach the cable car station and then the Observatory. Once on the Salève ridge, you can enjoy the many remarkable views over Geneva, Lake Geneva, the Jura Mountains and unforgettable panoramas across the entire Mont Blanc range.
Panoramic views of the Salève
The title of this hike sums up the route, and once you reach the heights of Salève, you can enjoy numerous views of the Genevois, Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc massif.
Please note that there are a few tricky sections between the Orjobet Cave (2) and La Corraterie (4).
The Salève via the Orjobet trail
The Salève in Haute Savoie is a bit like the mountain of the people of Geneva. The Grotte d'Orjobet still bears the stamp of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club). From Le Coin, a steady climb takes you to the cave, which you can then cross. After a final climb, you come out onto the plateau, which is also an alpine pasture. The view is simply magnificent.
The Salève circular: Orjobet, Corraterie, viewpoints and Grande Gorge
A circular trail that showcases the many facets of Salève: climb up via the Orjobet Cave, pass through the Trou de la Tine, Vire de la Corraterie, viewpoint towards Mont Blanc and Rochers de Faverges, viewpoints from the Observatory over Geneva and Lake Geneva, descent via the Grande Gorge and return to the start by passing under the large rock climbing routes.
Le Petit Salève
A circular trail, ideal for discovering the different facets of the Petit Salève. As this part of the Salève is quite busy, set off early in the morning or avoid weekends.
Grand Piton du Salève - Grotte du Diable
During this hike, you can admire the views of Lake Geneva and the Jura from La Thuile, then from the Grand Piton. You’ll take a short detour to the Grotte du Diable. For three-quarters of the hike, you’ll be sheltered from the sun.
Le Salève via the Pas de l'Échelle
From Geneva to Salève in 2 hours and 800 metres of elevation gain.
Groisy loop via La Tour and Le Sarnieux
An easy hike with many remarkable views.
Le Saleve - Pomier - Le Bois des Fées
Discover the Maison du Salève, the Chartreuse de Pomier and the mysterious Bois des Fées
An easy hike, even for children, that is both cultural and fun.
Les Convers, via the Petites Croix trail
A pleasant little walk starting from the Maison du Salève car park, above Pomier, with a section on the Petites Croix trail, to Les Convers. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
Crêt du Chable via Pierre Vieille from Étrembières
Passage through the “Pierre Vieille”, which are large erratic granite boulders deposited by glaciers millions of years ago from the Mont Blanc massif. I will then take you to the Crêt du Chable for a view of the Arve Valley and Mont Blanc.
This route is not recommended for those prone to vertigo or in adverse weather conditions.
Col de l'Enclave and Col de Landron
Close to Montagne de Sous-Dîne, a lovely route through magnificent scenery. Nature is dressed in its finest and offers us a symphony of autumnal colours. The route between Col de Landron and Col de l’Enclave takes you through a superb, fairly wild environment and an explosion of colours in the trees.
Chemin de la Vuettaz
A walk offering spectacular views in good weather.
Circular Sous-Dine loop via the Passage du Monthieu
The Sous-Dîne plateau, whose summit is just under 2,000 m, offers a magnificent view of the cliffs that form it. The Aravis and Mont Blanc massifs seem close enough to touch.
Col de Cou, Col du Freu, Col du Câble
A beautiful circular not far from Orange station, passing through three passes with a little adrenaline rush on the descent from the Col du Câble!
Pointe de Sur Cou and Chalet de Balme
A pleasant circular with a beautiful panorama at the summit over the Arve Valley and the Aravis, Bargy, and Sous Dine mountain ranges, etc. Mont Blanc is visible. Refreshments are available on the descent as you pass by the Chalet de Balme.
This is a very popular hike, partly due to the Chalet de Balme.
Roche Parnal and Montagne Sous-Dîne crossing
Roche Parnal and Montagne de Sous-Dîne are advanced viewpoints of the Bornes massif, ahead of Glières, and dominate the La Roche-sur-Foron area. The circular route offers a varied and interesting but demanding itinerary: some sections are exposed and several cable passages require caution, particularly the Col du Câble, which justifies the rating given.
