Discover three "Heritage Villages" starting from Auxi-le-Château

Start from the car park near the football pitch at the end of Rue du Cheval.

(S/E) Head west and go around the stadium on the right towards the "Village de l'Authie".

(1) In front of the entrance to the holiday village, take the path on the left that runs alongside the river, passing the sports field on your right.

(2) Pass the entrance to the water treatment plant and enter the marsh. At the first fork, continue to the right to reach a farmhouse and continue to the hamlet.

(3) Immediately take the path that passes to the right behind the houses and then joins Rue du Lannoy.

(4) Take this street to the right, towards Willencourt (be careful).

(5) At the electricity pole, turn right down between two meadows onto the narrow path towards the Authie. Then follow the river to Rue du Calvaire.

(6) Cross the Authie, pass in front of the town hall and continue along Rue de l'Abbaye. Ignore the paths and lanes on either side until you reach the D119 or Route de Berck.

(7) Cross this busy road carefully and go up the lane straight ahead. Continue straight ahead for about 2.5 km until you reach the D120.

(8) Turn left onto this road and, at the crossroads, take the road on the right towards Buire-au-Bois.

(9) Leave the road and turn left into the Bois du Tambour, then follow the path through the fields beyond the woods towards a farm and

join Rue du Château.

(10) Follow it to the right. Leave this road 100 m further on, turning right onto Rue Louvet and reaching Rue d'Erquières.

(11) Go downhill to the right towards the centre of Buire-au-Bois. In the village, continue and leave the church on your left.

(12) At the next intersection, go up Rue de l'Église on the left. At the end of the street, go right up Rue des Écoles.

(13) At the bend, leave Rue des Écoles and continue straight ahead on the path that narrows considerably after a few dozen metres, keeping to the right along the pasture. At Rue Delacourt, go down a few metres and cross slightly to the left to go down Ruelle des Brebis (grassy path). Join Rue de Noeux.

(14) Carefully climb Rue de Nœux (D117) on the left until you reach the D941.

(15) Cross the D941 carefully before taking the first path on the left and follow it until you reach a paved lane.

(16) Go down this lane on the right, then, before the first building, take the grassy path on the right which leads to Rue Andrieux.

(17) Turn right and continue straight ahead at the Notre-Dame de Liesse chapel. Take care when crossing Rue de Buire. Follow the farm track to the plateau. It's quite a climb!

(18) Turn right onto the grassy path that joins the edge of the Bois d'Auxi. Then turn left and walk along the edge of the forest, then on a wide path between the fields, with a view of the Authie valley.

(19) Cross the busy D941 with caution and take Rue de Nœux opposite.

(20) Leave this street at the bend and go down Rue de l'Hermitage, which runs alongside the old cemetery and Saint-Martin Church (15th-16th centuries), then joins Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. Stay on the main road, leaving the car parks on your left, and follow signs for Abbeville via Rue Vermaelen. This road leads to Place de Verdun after crossing the bridge over the Authie river. Ignore all side streets.

(21) Turn right onto Rue du Cheval and follow it to the football ground car park (S/E).
