Between Sienne and Hambyotte, this route invites you to discover the Normandy countryside via numerous sunken lanes where, in the meadows that line them, Prim'Holstein cows, originally from Holland, mingle with Normande cows, the region's emblematic breed. At the end of the route, Hambye Abbey awaits you with its13th-century chapter house.

Ce bourg d'environ 1500 habitants charme par ses constructions de caractère et le dynamisme de ses habitants. Le parcours de randonnée vous mènera vers les méandres des deux rivières qui serpentent sur le territoire, la Sienne et la Bérence, qui font le bonheur des randonneurs comme des pêcheurs de salmonidés.

This picturesque little village, nestled in the heart of the Sienne Valley, will enchant you with its peaceful setting and lush greenery. Its few houses, built from local stone, surround the church. You will notice that the slopes of this valley are covered with beech trees, whose hard, uniform wood is used in carpentry and cabinetmaking, as well as simply for firewood.

Situated in the heart of the Coutances countryside, the village of Hambye overlooks the surrounding area with a landscape of extensive hedgerows which, as you follow the route, provide a stunning natural backdrop to the abbey ruins and offer a valuable insight into the landscapes of the Normandy valleys, with meadows—some of which are wet at the valley floor—and woodland on the slopes.

Ce territoire, facilement accessible de la côte et de l'intérieur du Cotentin par des chemins de grande randonnée constitue un trait d'union géographique entre Saint-Lô, la capitale du cheval et Coutances, Pays d'art et d'Histoire. C'est un territoire vallonné qui comprend de nombreuses zones humides (marais). Il est traversé par la voie romaine (D 535) qui reliait Abrincae, nom romain d'Avranches et Alauna, Valognes.

In the Middle Ages, its name meant ‘small farmstead in the middle of the woods’. In 1792, its inhabitants refused to accept the change of regime brought about by the Revolution. Following a dispute with the king’s recruiter (who demanded more soldiers), the population rebelled, and the parish was removed from the register of parishes in France. The church was devastated, and the bells and the lords’ lead coffins were melted down.

Perched on a granite outcrop at an altitude of 176 m, the village offers a magnificent view of the surrounding area, particularly of Coutances and its cathedral. In the evening, on a clear night, you can make out seven lighthouses.

This idyllic route winds through the commune of Orval, surrounded by the River Sienne and its tributary, the Soulles. The route offers beautiful views of the bocage and the town of Coutances, and allows you to discover unspoilt, rich natural surroundings.

As you walk this route, it is the tranquillity that strikes you first. You can wander through the coastal bocage at your own pace whilst exploring the treasures to be found along the way.

Appreciated for its tranquillity and beauty, the town of Regnéville-sur-Mer is one of the most beautiful villages in Normandy. Strongly marked by its maritime past, it is pleasant to explore the various hamlets that make it up: Grimouville, Urville, Incleville, Le Rey, etc. Discover the whole town, its history and its treasures.

Keep your eyes peeled as you explore this magnificent route, where stunning panoramic views await you! With the Channel Islands on the horizon and sheep grazing by the wayside, this walk is the perfect way to enjoy the coastline and its surroundings.

This route takes you along thePR®26in Gouville-sur-Mer, recommended by the Departmental Hiking Committee. It allows you to walk along the seafront and along beautiful paths through the bocage countryside.

This walking route offers a route combining history and nature. You’ll pass by some exceptional monuments and walk through a picturesque setting. For lovers of nature and historic buildings, Gratot is a little haven of peace on the outskirts of Coutances.

To the north of Coutances, the three villages through which this route passes offer a peaceful walk through the heart of the bocage.

Pointe d'Agon is a magnificent protected natural area that you can explore on this route. On this site, which has been listed since 1989, you can gradually discover this exceptional area as you walk along the coastline and through the dunes covered with marram grass (perennial plants that grow in sandy soil).
