Zicavo walks
Punta di Bozzi in Guitera les Bains
A circular hike from Guitera les Bains, ideal in sunny weather as the route is through shady woodland. From the easily accessible rocky peak of Bozzi, there is a superb panoramic view of the middle Taravo valley, stretching from Petreto-Bicchisano in the west to the mountains in the east. Opposite is the Cuscione plateau and Mount Incudine. Please note, however, that the descent back to the village is via passages that are sometimes damaged by erosion.

A very pretty walk that follows the Coscione plateau and, once at the top, offers a superb view of the Bavella Needles.
The route follows part of theGR®20.
There are no particular difficulties with navigation; everything is well signposted from start to finish.
Short loop on the Coscione Plateau
This easy hike will allow you to discover a small part of the Coscionu plateau, which rises to an average altitude of 1,500 metres. This beautiful loop will take you along paths, tracks and trails through a varied and unspoilt landscape. Along the way, you may be lucky enough to encounter some animals, such as pigs, horses and donkeys
From the Usciolu Refuge to the Asinau Refuge
Our twelfth day of walking on the legendaryGR®20in Corsica, another day with ridges, but also a nice stretch on a plateau and therefore a big change of scenery.
GR® 20 - Stage 13: from Usciolu to the Croci sheepfold (new route from 2011)
Stage 13 between the Usciolu PNRC refuge and the Croci sheepfold follows the new route via Matalza (since 2011). A stage with not much elevation gain, but one that should not be underestimated. The start along the ridge is a bit technical up to Punta di a Scaddatta. Then a descent through the forest, crossing fields of ferns before a gruelling climb, part of which is on a track, up to the Croci sheepfold on the Coscione plateau.

This is a lovely hike that leads to the rocking rock, then on to the Coscione plateau through the pozzines where pigs and horses roam freely. We then follow the Giavingiolu stream, which we will have to ford several times. The descent then follows and overlooks the beautiful Chiuvone gorge.
Cuscionu Plateau - Violu di i pastori "The Shepherds' Path"
Since 2022, new routes have been established. Their aim is to divert footpaths crossing the pozzines as much as possible. The Violu di i Pastori hike goes around Castellu d'Ornucciu via the sheepfolds of Chiralbella. You can see numerous pozzines (peat bogs), including Pian d'Ornucciu. Depending on the season, you may encounter horses, cows, pigs and flocks of sheep.
Cuscionu Plateau: Violu di l'acqua "water trail"
Since 2022, new routes have been established. Their aim is to divert footpaths crossing the pozzines (peat bogs) as much as possible. The Violu di l'acqua hike offers beautiful views of the pozzines. It is ideal for families. Depending on the season and time of day, you may encounter horses, cows, pigs and flocks of sheep.

Fabulous landscapes, all manner of wildlife and wet pozzines. Add to that an enchanting silence and a magical light. That is what you will experience as you explore these Corsican mountains.
Pozzines (I Pozzi) and Lake Vitalaca
From the Val d'Ese station, set off to discover an unexpected landscape in Corsica: the Pozzines. This hike also offers magnificent views of Monte Renoso and Lake Vitalaca. You are sure to come across herds of sheep and cattle grazing in this area.

Discover the Pozzi du Renosu, one of Corsica's most remarkable geological gems, on a circular route redesigned for your comfort. This hike will take you to a vast high-altitude plateau where intense green lawns are dotted with a myriad of sparkling water holes, a direct legacy of the last ice age. We offer an alternative departure point that avoids the steep climb up the ski slope in favour of a more gradual and pleasant path.
From the Asinau refuge to Conca
Our thirteenth and final stage on theGR®20. The landscapes are magnificent and very different from what we have seen so far. The mountains are red and the vegetation much drier.
Ortala waterfall from Bastelica
A short hike starting from Bastelica, following the Volta Canal and leading to the Ortola Waterfall. You will pass through a magnificent forest of old chestnut trees.
Bastelica Circular Loop
If you don’t like out-and-back routes, here is a circular route that can be done starting from Bastelica. It will allow you to see the Ortola waterfall. You will also pass through the pig farms on this walk.
