In Guillestre, follow the RD902 (Queyras road), cross the Rif Bel bridge and, before the last roundabout (gendarmerie), look for a road on the right (signposted "carrière de marbre"). Park on this road if possible.
(S/E) Follow this tarmac road which runs along the right bank of the Rif Bel stream. Continue to the marble quarry workshops.
(1) Stay on the road, passing the hamlet of Rif Bel. The road becomes a dirt track and you will soon reach the hamlet of Les Michelats.
(2) Continue along the edge of Rif Bel. Just before the path ends at the micro-power station's water intake, leave the path and take the trail on the left that goes uphill. Follow it to the Pont de Vars bridge.
(3) Do not cross the bridge, but continue along the edge of the stream. The path becomes a track leading to the Basse-Rua Refuge.
(4) Continue south-east, past the ruins of Escreins. Stay on this track, leaving the Pic d'Escreins trail on your left and, further on, the Font Sancte trails. Cross the Rif Bel via a footbridge (1781m) and continue straight on to the large car park at Escreins.
(5) Return via the same route or descend via the tarmac road to reach the Pont de Vars and take the return trail to the starting car park (S/E).
