Queyras walks

A place of pilgrimage on 26 July on the feast day of Anne, this lake at the foot of the Col Girardin is an obligatory stop-off point for pilgrims on the famous GR®5.

A remarkable circuit in the famous Fonts de Cervières valley, with a magnificent lake at the foot of the Pic de Rochebrune cirque.

There is a pretty little lake at an altitude of 2,500 metres and a beautiful view of the Queyras massif from the Tronchet ridge.

Set off to climb the Pic de Caramantran, one of the easiest 3,000-metre peaks in the Queyras Regional Nature Park, and enjoy transalpine views of Italy and the Saint-Véran valley from its summit.

Le Chenaillet, an ancient volcano located under the ocean, is of exceptional geological interest. It is an easy hike with two lakes to discover and a 360° panoramic view of Italy, the Écrins, the Briançonnais and some of the peaks of the Queyras.

A short, challenging hike to a first-class viewpoint on Mont Viso, which, at an altitude of 3,208 metres, offers a magnificent 360° panorama of Italy and the Queyras.

Among the fascinating mountains of the Alps, Mont Viso (3,841 m) holds a special place. This route, which is not very steep on average but should not be underestimated due to the distance to be covered, allows you to approach the mountain and go as far as Lac Lestio, which gives you that special feeling of being at the end of the Alpine world.

A beautiful circuit above the hamlets of Molines-en-Queyras, allowing you to discover the Queyrassin mountain pastures and surrounding peaks.

This is a superb hike, partly unmarked on the IGN map, where you will undoubtedly be the only ones to enjoy the 360° panorama throughout the central part of the hike.The ridge is safe for hikers who are not afraid of heights and are used to the mountains. Hiking boots are recommended.About halfway along the ridge, there is a lovely spot for a snack, with a hollow to shelter from the wind.

A wild climb to Pic Foréant via equally wild ridges. This is followed by a visit to several lakes, each different in size and charm. All this at the foot of the Pain de Sucre and the Crêtes de la Taillante.

This is a challenging hike at the start, which continues along the Cascade de la Pisse waterfall. Lac Miroir, nestled in a pretty valley, reflects the snow-capped peaks all around. The Cascade de la Pisse waterfall, seen from below, is accessible directly from the car park (2 minutes' walk), and the hike follows the tumultuous torrent.

This is a particularly pleasant route, starting in the woods and then passing through beautiful mountain pastures, crossing the alpine village of Granges de Furfande and ending at the refuge below the pass of the same name.

This forest and mountain pasture trail offers a fascinating glimpse of the valley and some of Europe's highest villages, including Saint Véran.

An easy walk through the Swiss pine forest of Bois des Ayes above Villar-Saint-Pancrace.

From the Curlet cross, there is a superb view of Saint Véran, the highest village in Europe, and the entire upper Queyras, from the Col d'Izoard to the Col Agnel.

This hike starts in Saint-Véran, follows the Clausis chapel trail, which it leaves to return via a beautiful balcony path along the course of the old Grand Canal. Without any difficulty, it offers superb views of the Saint-Véran valley, the village and the surrounding peaks throughout the route.

This beautiful loop allows you to see Lac des Sarailles, the customs officers' hut, Lac Gignoux and Lac Noir in succession, ending at the ruined hamlet of Les Fraches. The summit of Le Chenaillet, particularly popular for its geological features, can be seen throughout this loop.

Easy hike. Little elevation gain, which is very gradual, except for a slightly steep 300m trail at the start and 500m at the end. Mostly in the forest, with superb viewpoints over the Guil Valley, then the Souliers Valley and finally Arvieux. 50/50 forest track and trails.

This circuit can be started from many different places. The one described here starts from the hamlet of Lauzet above La Roche-de-Rame. Please note that the 10km access track is in very poor condition and not recommended for low-clearance vehicles.

In Queyras, at this time of year (late October), the ubiquitous larch forests colour the mountain landscapes with shades ranging from yellow to red, and the snow-capped peaks further enhance this feeling of fulfilment. The proposed hike takes place in this atmosphere above the highest village in Europe: Saint-Véran.

This easily accessible border pass also offers a very pleasant loop through the mountain pastures and forests overlooking the right bank of the Guil.

Starting from the Chapelle des Clausis, we will circle a remarkable peak, passing through three mountain passes and making a short detour into Italy. Numerous lakes and the beautiful Refuge de la Blanche.

A very beautiful, easy walk through old hamlets and magnificent landscapes. The path is always fairly wide and without any significant slopes, making it ideal for snowshoeing.

Trek around Monte Viso in 5 stages. A beautiful high mountain hike. Hike over a 5 day period. An exquisite high mountain trek.

A fine hike, not too strenuous, with a pretty lake in a high-mountain landscape. The last part, a little harder, takes you up to 2800m and offers magnificent views. A few marmottes can be seen on the way to the pass.

A relatively short and easy walk around the "Vauban" citadel of Mont-Dauphin. From the top of the circuit, there are fine views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, while the section along the river Guil offers a view not only of the Guil, but also of the Chalp canal waterfall. The walk can be followed by a stroll around the citadel.

The second stage of our trek around Monte Viso starts with a hike through green foliage at the bottom of the valley. Then a passage through beautiful alpine pastures near a delightful little lake. Stunning view point at Col Sellière.

This first stage is a warm-up for the rest. It's a medium mountain trek starting through larch trees before reaching alpine pastures surrounding the pass. A beautiful view over Pellice valley during the hike down.

A 4 day trek on a high mountain route. The trek around Monte Viso (one of the highest summits in the Italian alps) is a sight for sore eyes. Crossing through some of the most authentic and wild high valleys of the Alps is delightful. This trek is almost identical to another trek by another hikiideas hiker which is done over 5 days. A big thank you to him and his description which inspired me.

You'll take the Aiguillettes path up to the two major passes above Ceillac, then join the Col de Fromage via the Souillet path on the Guil valley side, on a beautiful balcony path. ⚠️Caution: the Aiguillettes path crosses 3 ravines that may pose problems for some. If this is the case, you can take the GR® which starts nearby and ends at the same point. Less interesting but quieter.

A short circuit from the hamlet of Pierre Grosse through the ski slopes to reach and discover Saint-Véran.

Beautiful stage, green at first, covered by neve at the pass then very floral in Guil Valley.

Circuit opposite the magnificent peak of Rochebrune with an exceptional view of the road of the Col d'Izoard. And besides, there are chamois here!

A lovely walk in a green setting with little elevation gain on an easy trail (along the water) to do with the family, keeping a close eye on young children in the more exposed areas or on the ridge. Some sections offer superb views of Guillestre and beyond, then through the trees to the Guil Gorges.

Long loop starting from Les Roux, taking us to Italy to Lago Verde and its refuge, returning via another pass and another equally pleasant valley and the hamlet of Valpréveyre.

This stage involves a pass with neves and crossing Refuge du Viso high berm then Guil valley.

Three days walking through the passes and cabins in this region and opportunities to explore this lovely area. Enjoy an Italian tradition: agroturismo by residing overnight in one of the farms alongside calves, cows, pigs, chickens etc.

First stage of Circuit Franco-Italian border "Queyras in Val Pellice" punctuated by passages through three interesting passes: Malaure, Bouchet and Vampréveyre.

Quite a long high mountain stage today, set in a mineral landscape passing through "les sources du Pô" and near beautiful mountain lakes. Exploring the north-east side of Monte Viso (3841m) will be the highlight.

For a multi-faceted walk in the Vallée des Fonts de Cervières:- a wide path along the edge of the Cerveyrette,- an arrival point featuring not teepees, but remarkable chalets,- an impressive view of the Pic du Lombard summit,- and above all, a delicious meal at the Refuge des Fonts,this is an interesting idea for a pleasant day out.

A French-Italian loop to discover Lake Asti in a very rocky setting. The path to the lake is mostly very stony and requires careful attention.

Loop to the Ascension lakes starting from Lauzet. The hike passes through the small pass of Peyron, which offers a magnificent view of the two valleys, the three lakes and the entire cirque. The return trip along the forest path is a bit monotonous, but this is more than compensated for by the beauty of the landscapes you encounter.

A short hike starting from Guillestre with the added bonus of climbing to a small summit for the view, before returning via a wide forest path, then a path that joins the hamlet of Les Terrasses before taking the Canal Salva path that brings us back to the starting point.

This route straddles two countries, offering lakes, military heritage, pastoralism and views of the high peaks of Pic de Rochebrune on the French side and Mont Chaberton on the Italian side. It is ideal for walking or running.

In summer, when the Montgenèvre ski lifts are open, there is an easy walk to the Fort de l'Infernet, which offers exceptional views of the Briançon valleys from the top station of the Gondrans chairlift.

Sometimes it is worth splitting the daily walks in two to enjoy an evening in the bivouac. This is the route we have chosen this year, which allows you to marvel at the 360° landscape from the bivouac in the evening and morning.

This pleasant second day begins with a climb to the Col de Moussière before passing by the very pleasant Lac du Lauzet, then taking the long forest track back to the Moussière car park.
