Park in the Simoust car park, accessible via Chemin des Barnières.
(S/E) Return to the path and turn left onto the trail. After a short descent, you will reach a crossroads with a sign for Rue des Masques.
(1) Ignore this sign and turn right onto the descending path. Continue until you reach a tarmac road, turn left and follow it for about 50 metres, then turn right back onto the path. You will reach the Simoust Bridge.
(2) Cross the bridge and turn left onto the road. Leave the wide path on the left bank of the Guil river behind you. Then turn left onto the dark orange marked trail. Here, begin an easy climb that leads to a road at the entrance to the village of Eygliers.
(3) Cross it, passing in front of the church, then turn left onto the road marked with white and redGR®653Dsigns and a shell. You will then reach a crossroads of roads and paths.
(4) Turn left onto the path along the edge of the cliff, but at a safe distance, and pass through the car parks to reach the entrance to the citadel of Mont-Dauphin.
(5) Turn right, then follow the street and pass close to the powder magazine and the church. Continue on to reach the Embrun gate.
(6) Go down the road and follow the long hairpin bends to reach the Saint-Guillaume Chapel.
(7) Continue along Route de Saint-Guillaume to reach the large footbridge over the Guil.
(8) Take it to the right and reach the crossroads of the paths leading to Guillestre. Take the one on the left, signposted Rue des Masques. Follow a path alternating between short ascents and descents along the left bank of the Guil. Cross the footbridge over the Canal de la Chalp spillway. A few steps further on, you will find the start of the climb up Rue des Masques.
(9) Here, begin a fairly steep climb, pass at the foot of the climbing site and return to the initial crossroads.
(1) Turn right and take the same route back to the Simoust car park (S/E).
