In the footsteps of medieval Boussac
A walk in the footsteps of medieval Boussac.
As you stroll along, you’ll discover the remains of the city walls and fortification towers; through the old city gate, you’ll enter medieval Boussac and wander through its streets and alleyways.
You’ll pass the old mill below the castle and walk alongside the Petite Creuse river, emerging onto the bridge which offers a superb view of Boussac Castle, where the writer Georges Sand once stayed.
Along the Verraux and on the heights of Clugnat
Beautiful hike starting from the municipal lake in Clugnat, along a small country road running alongside the Verraux river and lined with majestic beech trees.
In Poussange (420 m above sea level), there is a lovely viewpoint over the surrounding countryside and Clugnat.
The walk follows a path through fields and woodland.
The return journey crosses a wooden bridge over the river.
South of Bétête
A pleasant walk south of Bétête that will take you to the Fréteix mill on the Petite Creuse.
It passes through several hamlets and offers unobstructed views. An unpretentious, easy walk, just for a leisurely stroll... gazing into the distance. You’ll come across cows, a horse, gardens and restored houses. (And the dog is happy).

A family walk around this lake, which is classified as a National Nature Reserve.

The Voueize Gorges
This short hike also gives you the opportunity to discover the charming village of Chambon-sur-Voueize.
The walk can be done as a circular route, but only the first half runs along the Voueize gorges. For once, I vote for a return trip to enjoy the scenery along the banks twice.

This is an easy, countryside walk that's perfect for families. There are a few ponds and two pretty castles to discover along the way.

From the Roman bridge at Courtioux to the wind turbines at Savernat
A hike along the paths, but also through the history of human achievements. From the Roman bridge at Courtioux to the wind turbines at Savernat, you will travel through nine centuries. You can also admire two sunken lanes characteristic of the Bourbonnais bocage. If you are observant, you will see the tracks of our ancestors' iron-wheeled carts and wagons engraved in the granite of the lane leading down from La Chaux. Another return to our heritage.
From La Bartillatte to the church at Quinsaines
A hike over hill and dale that takes you from the Bartillatte valley and its famous Roman bridge to the distinctive church of Quinssaines, perched on its rock.
This route is suitable for mountain bikes.
It can easily be shortened (see map and practical information).

Suitable for mountain biking, with a very technical section between (2) and (3).
The sheep of Bramefaim
A walk perfectly suited to Nordic walking, along the beautiful paths of the Coursages communal lands. Certain landscapes—vast pastures bordered by fir trees, a shepherd, his sheep and his dogs (yes, really)—inevitably bring to mind a painting from the Barbizon School.
Passing by Paulo's

Tournicoti twirled around the hamlet of Masgot
Masgot is a hamlet adorned with original sculptures created in the 19th century by a single man, the stonemason François Michaud, but it is also a hamlet surrounded by footpaths and woodland trails that can be explored even in hot weather. A lovely little walk that also takes you through the hamlet of Montgermain, where you can admire its venerable 400-year-old lime tree. The route is almost entirely off-road, so you can let your dog run free.
Here and there through Sous-Parsat
Starting from Sous-Parsat, this hike offers the opportunity to admire the amazing frescoes and stained glass windows of the village's Saint-Thomas Church, to stop at Mareilles in front of the "cylindrical" fountain and its pretty basin, and to walk through the undergrowth or across the bocage.
