Description of the route

(S) At the Huriel campsite, turn left on leaving and join the D916, following the Riau Giro. Pass under the railway bridge (take care!) and turn onto a dirt track opposite. After about 1.2 km, the track changes direction and reaches a three-way junction.

(1) Turn right towards the hamlet of Mandrant; in the hamlet, turn right, then left, and left again

(2) On leaving the hamlet, take the path on the right which immediately turns left

(3) At the road, turn right towards Maussat, then continue past this hamlet for about 100 m. Leave the road and take a path on the left. After fording a stream, head up a narrow, sunken path. Cross the D150 and head towards Peiges.
(4) About 150 m further on, turn left towards Peiges and take thefirst left past Les Ouches de Peiges. Follow the edge of a pond and take the path on the right to Laugère.

(5) Take the road on the right via Beaucatier and Villebeau.

(6) After Villebeau, take the path on the left; at the three-way junction, turn right, cross the Liat and head up to Jarges.

(7) At Jarges, follow the road straight ahead and join the D242; turn right onto it until you reach the crossroads.

(8) At this junction, take the path on the right to Frontenat, where you follow the D309 to the right.

(9) Follow the D309 to Les Coutures

(10) Keep right onto the track and then onto a small road.

(11) Turn left before reaching Peiges onto the track heading towards Archignat, which soon descends towards the railway line. Turn left and pass under the line through a narrow tunnel. Cross a stream and climb up to Archignat until you reach a four-way junction.

(12) At Archignat, head towards Boussac. At a bend in the D916, turn left onto the Longevergne path (panoramic view). At the end of this long, hedgerow-lined path, continue in the same direction.

(13) Turn left onto a path before Longevergne, cross the Magieure, and walk alongside a pond. Cross the railway line under a bridge and take the path on the right. Follow this path straight on until you reach the Mandelet quarry road; take this road straight ahead, turn right, cross the railway line, and continue straight up to the D916.

(14) Follow the D916 to the left for 200 m (Take care!) and take thefirst path on the right, following it to Les Maisons. Turn left and then left again, cross the village and take the path on the right.

(15) At a three-way junction, take the path on the left. You will reach a crossroads with four paths.

(16) At the four-way junction, turn right. At the entrance to the Bois de Sugère, continue straight ahead along a forest track. At the junction of the tracks, turn right and continue along this track to exit the woods. Join a small road then turn right onto the D 549 towards Chambérat.

(17) Then turn left towards La Cueille. After the houses, continue along a path lined with box trees.

(18) Cross the Meuzelle ford and head up a sunken track to Vieille Vigne.

(19) At the entrance to the village, go round a pond on the right, cross the D249 and continue straight ahead along a grassy track until you reach a junction.

(20) Turn right, then at the following crossroads, turn left and left again.

(21) Cross the D113 (take care) and continue straight ahead. At the crossroads, turn right then left towards Saint-Rémy. Proceed to a four-way junction.

(22) At the junction, take the hairpin bend onto the stony road on the right. Cross a road and continue straight ahead. In a bend after a house, turn left onto a grassy track. At the next two junctions, turn right then left. The track descends towards the Arnon.

(23) Ford the spillway of the ponds; after an old mill, take the path on the left through the woods, then turn right. Pass through the hamlet of Le Patouiller.

(24) Cross the Arnon on the right. A steep slope, then a small road to the left, lead to Vienny. Follow the access road to Vienny until you reach a three-way junction.

(25) Turn left onto the D545. Cross this road (take care) and head straight ahead onto a wide grassy track. You’ll reach a four-way junction at Préveranges.

(26) At the four-way crossroads, continue straight ahead then turn left. You’ll come to a road: follow it to the right, pass a reservoir and arrive at the D112.

(27) Turn right onto the departmental road. The route leaves the Allier and the Bourbonnais to enter Berry in the Cher department, in the commune of Préveranges. About 150m further on, take the first path on the left towards Le Mas.

(28) Cross a farmyard (local track), then follow a small road to the left for a few metres. Turn right onto a track (east); follow it easily until you reach the D997 departmental road (note, opposite, a rest area with a pond, whilst on the right, a beautiful farmhouse forms the corner) and a 300-year-old oak tree opposite.

(29) Follow the road to the right and then right again until you reach the Préveranges campsite (E).
